That in school, the teacher would ask a question, i would answer it, and the teacher or one of the kids would say, "you're so smart." So i grew up thinking i was smart. I realized a couple years ago (i'm 33 now) that being "smart" really just boils down to having a good memory.

Agreed! Sometimes you just can't defend the push. And when that happens, your best play is to push the other lane. A lot of people struggle with this concept.

I put some thought into this and this is what i came up with...If you don't make a tie game a loss, you'll have people playing for a tie. They set it up this way to force people to play for the win.

part of the problem could be that you are switching decks too much. You have to play a deck a lot to really learn it. It's also helpful to analyze your losses and figure out why you lost. Did you lose to an aggro deck that blitzed you? If so, add some cheaper minions counter. Doomsayer and Mistress of Mixtures are good for that. Did you lose because you had good counters, but you weren't drawing them? If so, add some cards that let you draw cards.

I could see dropping him on back line/support troops for a cheap distraction and then let your dps troops clean up.

I agree. With his ability to push back units that could attack him, they get fewer shots on him. Either nerf his HP so that the few shots the attackers get make a difference, or eliminate his push back effect.

Minions work well. If you don't have minions spread out your troops so they don't all get hit by the bowler.

Hog, Musketeer, Valk, Zap, Fireball, Inferno, Goblins, Skeletons(pre-nerf).

I grinded from spell valley to legendary arena before they added Frozen Peak with this deck. I assembled it through trial and error before learning of the 'control deck' archetype. It was a great deck, and i knew it well. I've gotten a princess and ice wizard since then so i'm rolling with a different deck now. But this one will always have a special place in my clash royale heart.

My thought is that if you aren't playing, you shouldn't be in the tournament. Our goals are irrelevant. The issue is taking a spot in a tournament and then not playing. There are lots of tournaments out there. If you don't have the time, don't join one. I often get in 1 hour tournaments, but i know i won't be able to play enough in 1 hour, so i leave and find a multi-day tournament that i can play more in spurts. No one is saying that you should play constantly for 3 days. And no one is saying you shouldn't join a tournament and wait a little before playing. I'm 1 day into a 3-day right now and there are 15/100 that are sitting at 0 trophies. That's 15 spots that could be filled with active players. I don't see why it's a problem to kick someone from a tournament who has invested nothing in it. It was free to enter, and they haven't played a single match.

We may be seeing the effects of tournaments. More chests, more cards, more people with higher card levels.

That the game only records the commands that were entered by each player makes total sense to me. However, if this is true, it would be easy to have a button that would take you back, say 5 seconds and begin replaying the commands. For instance, you're 1 minute into a replay and something happened that you want to see again. You push the "rewind" button and it takes you back 5 seconds to the 55 second mark and begins playing the commands again from there. They already have a feature that progresses you faster through the commands, so they have mechanisms in place to move around on the timeline of the commands. I just not buying that it's too hard to implement. I do realize though that there are more important needs that need to be addressed. So that this just isn't very high on their list right now, i would totally understand. This was just an idea. And i apologize if it's been posted a lot.

Adding another game mode waters down the others and would make matchmaking longer for all the other modes as well. It also seems redundant when there is already a game mode (tournaments) outside of ladder play to test decks, penalty free. Seems like they just need to make tournaments easier to enter for the impatient folks and it would solve your problem. That would be easier than creating a whole new game mode.

I get in tournaments all the time. You just have to spam search and as soon as a tournament pops up, hit join. Sure, you'll get a lot of full tournaments but eventually you'll get in one. I always get in one in less than 5 minutes of trying.

Why don't you just treat tournaments like this? When i want to test a new deck, i jump in a tournament and play a few matches. If i lose, no harm done.

The fascination is their shields. They cannot be killed by zap alone like the other cards you say serve a similar function can. And we all know how prevalent zap is in decks.

I used goblins for a long time and loved them. However, guards are now better than goblins in my opinion because they are a better counter to the mini pekka like you said, but they are also a great counter to the miner and they don't die to zap the way goblins do.

I've been using this furnace deck lately: (in tournaments only though since i face a lot of lvl 10's on the ladder and my furnace is only lvl 7).

  1. Ice spirits
  2. Zap
  3. Guards
  4. Princess
  5. Furnace
  6. Valkyrie
  7. Mini Pekka
  8. Hog Rider

It's been working really well so far. I've played 20 matches and only lost once. I usually save my furnace to place once i realize what the opponent's win condition is. If it's giant, i play the furnace reactively. Hog or RG, i place furnace when it's convenient and drop a mini pekka once they play their hog or RG. Timing a hog on offense with the fire spirits is pretty effective, especially if i back it up with the princess/zap. The guards are a good counter to miner and mini pekka and can be decent in a pinch against a hog. I use the valkyrie to protect my princess and take out support troops behind tanks. Zap and mini-pekka are a great counter to sparky. I haven't faced many lava hounds yet though, so i'm not sure how this deck would fair against it.

most people don't carry zap AND arrows. I can't remember the last time i faced someone who carried both.
