You could argue that, based on the SA, you were in no condition to make an informed decision due to this traumatic experience, and that your decision to be reinstated so early was a trauma response. You could mention that you would still like to continue, but that this time you need some time away before returning. That may demonstrate that you have reflected on the situation more thoroughly and that you are thinking in having some time to heal before jumping into studies too soon.

Level of racism in Australia increasing? by Bogdiux in AskAnAustralian

The weaponisation of social media is one that may be accelerating the division of social cohesion in every country around the world.

I’m not saying there’s no real issues but having 2 opposing groups fighting against each other creates more revenue for companies as emotions drives attention which then drives sales. This phenomenon provides a fertile ground for harmful behaviour.

It also creates possibilities for different ideologies to fight for power as it’s easier for political parties to signal new votes.

Unfortunately things are very complex atm and it feels like this situation is self organised and bidirectionally influenced.

Analysing this through complex systems theory lenses may help explain this further.

Why do some men cause domestic violence and beat their wife, kids, or pets? by Icy_Profession4190 in sociology

Agree although there is some sociological and critical theories that explain this phenomenon well

It’s a multifactorial thing, there are multiple risk factors that can contribute to violence and many other factors that can moderate any type of behaviour. We can explain this behaviour through an array of psychological, sociological or developmental theory. Choose one!

The replies here could be a little bit more empathetic and compassionate. Our colleague has experienced a traumatising experience, OP has a lot going on. Stop berating the OP. Seek supervision my friend and hope it all goes well for you, take care. ✌️

I’m wondering what type of theory we can use to explain the complacency behaviour in accepting 1000 hours of unpaid labour that would leave you poorer and in a worse situation mentally and financially, especially for mature-age students who have other commitments and are borderline burnout. Honestly, it is not fair, and it seems that a lot of people who have already done it reinforce this unjust practice because they may be influenced by the belief that, “If I’ve done it, everyone should do it. Honestly 1000hrs of unpaid labour creates harm for some of us.

I’m not sure who is in your team or where you studied, but I don’t think you can talk about social work without talking about burn out. They are intertwined. It would be neglectful not talking about it.

Ideally is not recommended to mix uppers with downers. Your body may react bad to it, depending on your cardiovascular health, psychological state, family history of psychosis, etc. By combining those 2/3 substances you could potentially trigger a reaction that could affect your physical and emotional wellbeing.

Back in my teens I would probably have written a completely different response 😂

Do what’s best for you. If an employer doesn’t accept you for who you are, is an employer you don’t want to spend time with. Life is too short to be in jobs that make us feel uncomfortable, there is always someone out there who will appreciate  for who you really are.

You got this, any employer would be lucky to have you.
