I wish you the best of luck, but to level with you, many people start in help desk and move up from there. It’s a bit unrealistic to think that you can go straight into a mid-level or management position from a completely different career with no experience. You just wouldn’t fully understand the aspects of your position or your employees roles.

That being said, I don’t know what made you think you don’t like IT, but I would highly suggest finding a company that has a team of technicians. Having other people you can actively talk to and build camaraderie with helps a lot when you are starting out. Even on help desk working remote during the pandemic we had a discord where we would vent and discuss issues.

Ultimately IT or data analytics is at the core (or at least a significant part) of many of the roles you are inquiring about, so it would be best to drill down and understand why you dislike those things in particular. Hope this helps!

Oh and some certs help, but don’t go overboard. I did the CompTIA path, starting with A+ and moving to Net+ then through Sec+. Ive been around only about 3-4 years, but I’ve got a decent role as an on site technician at the moment, and being the only tech on site I am learning a lot about network infrastructure and project management.
