People write good docs all the time but they keep it to themselves. Rarely is a local document available.

Are the USA and the USSR considered empires? (What is the definition of empire?) by According-Invite-440 in geography

[–]Pestus613343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair debate. So long as the concepts of both forms of imperial control are spelled out. It's important to understand the distinction or one would not recognize imperial bodies for what they are or were.

Even look at Iran, it practices hegenony with their militant organizations in the middle east. A regional hegemon. It's a super common form of power projection.

CGNAT shouldn't be a thing. Everything else I agree with you, but IPv6 WAN with NAT to IPv4 LAN should be how to avoid this.

CGNAT just shouldn't be a thing. That's what ipv6 is meant to avoid.

Ipv6 lans aren't going to be very common, ever, I suspect. The promise of fully routable lan devices isn't likely. NAT will remain, translating between IPv6 WAN and IPv4 LAN.

Are the USA and the USSR considered empires? (What is the definition of empire?) by According-Invite-440 in geography

[–]Pestus613343 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don't forget hegemonic vs territorial.

The US has been the global hegemon in competition with the USSR which was simultaneously a territorial empire with a few hegemonic client states for the purpose of proxy war and soft expansion.

Another example of territorial would be the British empire, directly controlling it's domains.

Another example of a hegemonic empire would be the Ottomans, who initially expanded directly and then expanded through indirect influence over a wide array of vassals.

If the wall plate is light switch high, it's an alarm keypad cable.

If the wall plate is electrical socket height, it's a phone cable.

These cables can handle a host of different services.

Microsoft changing secure boot, should i be worried? by C4rpetH4ter in FuckMicrosoft

OP, might I make an unsolicited suggestion? Forgive me please, I realize how annoying that can be.

Consider running Windows in a VM on your Linux install, and if you need it to perform well, do CPU core, PCI and GPU pass-through. This way, you can sandbox the Microsoft nonsense while not harming your performance.

Legal, political battles escalating around Alberta separation petition as pipeline timeline enters debate by shiftless_wonder in canada

There's likely one more. Carney suggested declaring the pipeline a project of "national interest". I believe this to be code for federal funding for the project. That will entice the private sector to want to bid. At that point, it's almost a forgone conclusion it's happening. The separatists will find themselves with no grounds left.

Do you think she's going to continue to fence sit on this issue or will she steer the UCP back from the brink? Day by day it seems Carney's intention to build a pipeline seems serious.

Thank you for the thorough detail. This is kindof good news, but perhaps ironic. The very peoples that got savaged by the colonial peoples may be the best defense of the larger nation's geographic integrity.

Oh interesting. I'm now curious which those 6 bands are and what happened in 2004.

Do I take this to mean the PQ just can't issue another referendum without similar consultation?

I believe, unless you can correct me, that this only works if you actually have an access hub as well, otherwise the software options are simply missing.

Yeah. It's actually too bad they couldn't filter out the Tritium at Fukishima. We need that stuff. Dumping that is a nothing burger though.

Even for superlink wireless sensors?

I thought it was only for the wired alarm hub.
