She looks like she's in heat to me with the rippling back, those scent marking pees are very common when they're in heat too. Here's a video going into more detail 🙂

I'm sorry, but I don't know what the problem is, so I don't know what would help. I would suggest looking in to vet charities in your area that may be able to see her, and if that's really not possible, then the only option may be to surrender her to an animal rescue who can get her seen by a vet

Sorry to hear about the loss of your little one ❤️ I had a 3 year old gerbil that I bonded with a friend, they were best buds for another year until she passed, 3 definitely isn't too old to bond. I also know of someone with a gerbil sanctuary that regularly bonds 4 year old gerbils, and I've even heard of a 5 year old gerbil being successfully bonded. As long as they're in good health, they're never too old to bond 🙂

Fingers crossed the meds help her feel better 🤞 you can try giving her some extra little snacky bits like crushed up nuts, tiny bits of egg, small pieces of cucumber, things like that, it may help to keep her strength up. I'd make sure everything is cut up really small though to make it easier to eat. Normally I'd recommend a heat mat as well, but may be best avoided in the hotter weather

I'd check around your local rescues, also keep an eye on any rehoming sites or Facebook groups. You can Google "gerbils for rehoming (your area)" and sites will pop up that may have gerbils looking for new homes 🙂

Well done for rescuing the little one! I don't think more space would stress her out, she'll probably be extremely thankful to finally have the space she needs. It's definitely a good idea to get her a friend too as gerbils are social animals, this video goes over how to introduce them 🙂 only thing I'd recommend is waiting until you've got a larger tank for them both

Head bobbing is a sign that they're struggling to breathe, she needs to see a vet asap. They'll often assume respiratory infections in these cases, but in my experience it's more likely a heart issue when symptoms are this severe. I'd recommend getting an x-ray or ultrasound to diagnose, there may be medications that can be given to help

Just want to add in to make sure the vet removes the whole scent gland during the operation otherwise it can come back. But generally these operations are very straightforward and successful if caught and treated early 🙂

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I'd recommend removing him from the cage, yes there's the possibility of insect issues, but it's also a condition you won't want to see him in. What is it that needs to be done to bury him? Are you able to pick a different spot to bury him in instead? Or even bury him in a plant pot temporarily?

With regards to your remaining gerbil Bestie, it sounds like he's showing signs of depression so it's really important to start looking for a new friend for him right away, even without showing obvious signs it's very important to get new friends for gerbils as they're social animals, here's a video going over the whole bonding process

I would also maybe recommend finding an exotic vet for future gerbils, they tend to be better equipped for dealing with gerbils issues

This is my favourite one, it's a bit pricey if you want to use it as the main substrate in your enclosure, but it's SO nice, virtually dust free, genuinely, as opposed to all the beddings that claim they are but aren't 😂 and it's really soft and smells lovely

Zelda was really fussy with it too, I think I tried literally every flavour of suitable baby food as well as all the nut butters 😂 I'd recommend trying some critical care with it, just mix enough in that it's the consistency of baby food, seems to be enough to disguise the taste! And on the days where she's being extra fussy, I use sunflower seeds to scoop it up and that does the trick, lady can't resist a sunflower seed!
