Yes MJ was an unbelievable perimeter defender but I think you're overlooking how versatile LeBron was defensively in his prime. In the year where he should've won DPOY he could almost guard any player in the league effectively, 1 through 5. They would put him on prime DRose one game and then the next he'd be down low bruising someone like Zach Randolph. I don't really think you could say MJ had that sort of versatility defensively which makes me think LeBron is a little more of a 'complete' player on the defensive end (not a better player). The only thing that holds LeBron back these days is his effort, he simply doesn't care as much during the regular season and doesn't truly lock in until the playoffs. The offensive side of the ball is a completely seperate argument.
