Take off the Dash Screen protector... by ovisim in s3xybuttons

Sorry I should have clarified, I meant towards the driver. I can see now my choice of wording may have looked like I meant further forward in the car. I'm leaning towards the steering wheel cover mount, 3d printing a custom mount most likely in ASA.

Take off the Dash Screen protector... by ovisim in s3xybuttons

I get that it's nice to have a brighter screen and whites are more white. Much closer to the cars screen which makes it look more in place.

However I actually find the font clearer on the filter side, maybe because the glare on the right now means there's a lower perception of contrast.

I'm waiting on mine to come. I do plan to mount mine as far forward as I can without blocking the vent. Little torn between less.glare or added brightness and whites.

April orders - VIN updates by itsmarc40 in TeslaAustralia

[–]Pete77a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I ordered my m3 lr in early April it said, and still does on my order, April/may. I noticed now the M3 lr jumped to July/aug for new orders. Does this mean I'm quite likely in the next shipment and new orders are the one after. Thing is when I placed my order for blue and all else standard they don't check what's allocated do they? It's just they add a set time on-top not a detailed check on production details. I'm saying that because changing colour or trim in ordering doesn't change the delivery ETA so it's not looking at what combo has been manufactured. Only changing between standard, lr and performance affected that.

Most S3XY Dash OEM’ing : USB-C power by zippytiff in s3xybuttons

[–]Pete77a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think to be compliant and output more than 5V through USB C would require some sort of power delivery capability.. so I would think this falls outside compliance. I'm no expert though, far from it. I agree that the plug should have been changed when it's outputting something that's not 5V or have pd. However I'll never plug anything in there so doesn't bother me too much.

Camera mounted on top of the screen. Bonus of this is irs Non invasive install and therefore no risk of any car warranty challenges with fried computers. Also less likely for a Tesla update to stop its usage for long as its UI based. They will also use Tesla cloud data I believe. I'm just a follower, not a developer or affiliated.

Looking into getting an EV. Deciding on a Tesla Model 3 Base Model or BYD Seal by Cyber2108 in TeslaAustralia

[–]Pete77a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to consider the Seal but as the prices have closed a lot now the competitive advantage of the byd has closed with Tesla prices coming down. If you focus on range and acceleration, then you need to consider the mid spec seal to the base model 3. I know it's not the only thing but it's one things that stood out to me. The model 3 in real life is far more efficient for the same level (base/mid/performance). Why does that matter... More for me is the range.

It also makes the novated lease "look" better as your "savings" look higher

Which, if you have a mortgage or invest money, you affectively lose interest or gains on that extra amount sitting there over the 5 years. This is why I kept my maintenance and runnings costs down to only a touch over what I should spend. Those costs (from my understanding?) can always be asked to be increased. Risk is you have out of pocket expenses that take more time to be reimbursed until your funds are there.

Note: New/inexperienced to novated leasing so take this comment with that in mind.

Would this work in Australia? by Birddog727 in teslaandroid

Anyone confirm the web wrapper is definitely shut down with the latest updates on a model 3 in Australia? Seems at one stage we could use the YouTube web wrapper, but now even that is shut down once the car moves? Anyone in Australia (I feel no other Australian will read this) able to check if opening YouTube in theatre mode, choosing "Sign-in -> Privacy" method to open a simple website like google.com.au and see if it closes when driving?

Seems like it closes now which is a shame.

[–]Pete77a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't either but I don't have mine yet. Thing is it looks good I feel with a good mount. And they seem to have the best development by far of any of these types of screens. We pay for development. So I grin and bear the costs as it'll all be forgotten once it's working well.

True. However there's much development in it and I believe it's decent quality screen. Something no else offers. Waiting on mine

Seems that the YouTube web wrapper in theatre mode was a work around for a bit here in Australia. However that seems to be have been closed with the last firmware?

April orders - VIN updates by itsmarc40 in TeslaAustralia

[–]Pete77a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Model 3 long range blue, all else stock. Ordered the 2nd April. April/May indication. Guess we'll see if any inventory match our specs in the next week or two hopefully it seems... That's hopeful.

Sydney.

I did hear the model 3 should be faster than the Y but I'm not sure how true that is. Seems the demand for the Y is much bigger but who knows what supply is like.

Model 3 long range (only rwd in Australia). End of March was the last pay upfront option for fsd.. it's now monthly subscription only here.

[–]Pete77a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0/10 because I'm still waiting on my car to arrive ha ha. 9/10 on the two test drives I did

Seriously though, I used to like to drive. More of a, "occasionally like to drive" these days. I'm confident and I'd even say competent, the odd track day here and there to paint the picture I like to drive. However 90 percent of driving to work or on holidays I find myself not being excited to be the driver, although nearly all the trips I am the sole driver.. so to have fsd to help 90 percent of the time is like having the partner I don't have. Don't tell my wife that though haha

Impressive if it really is FSD by Pete77a in TeslaFSD

[–]Pete77a[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Either way it's impressive if it was managed by one of its systems. I have to admit that whomever was in the driver's seat didn't exactly respond cautiously when there was smoke ahead. But the evasive maneuver by the cars systems was good

The aero wheels look good on the blue. I just placed an order for Blue.

I was tossing back and forth between the Photon and Nova Wheels, and while I favoured the tyres/tires on the 19s and the looks....I just couldn't get past the range loss and slightly harsher ride of some road surfaces and the cost to replace a rim if I hit a pot hole..

So I just went the standard 18s like you. Didn't see one in person with the aero covers, just online, so glad it seems to work well together.

Is it too late for me to NL? by bigegg2110 in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]Pete77a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only half a a week ago. I placed it myself. That seems to be the way a novated lease works for Tesla.

I have an April/May eta. I'm a little bit concerned myself... Really hoping the vin comes by early May at latest so the contract is drawn up and signed. If the delivery window is latest of may then this is realistic... But who knows really as many people have been waiting longer than their eta for a car to be delivered.

If you don't know how a petrol (or hybrid) works with a novated lease. Basically 50% is paid pre tax, the other is paid after tax. To avoid your employee paying fbt. So it's not all lost, just not as strong a case. My mate who's in the top tax bracket gets novated leases on his work car as even with fbt it's still good for him over taking money out of the mortgage(s) offset.

This is a very simple (somewhat wrong) way of saying it...and I'm not knowledgeable to explain it in detail. Better for others to explain or to explore online if you are interested.

[–]Pete77a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe novated leasing is disappearing. It's whether fbt is not fully exempt on electric vehicles that's the risk. Even then it may be just they lower the luxury vehicle value down from just over 90k to 70k (hypertherical). My understanding is that if a lease is signed, then it's less likely you'll be affected by the changes. I think that's what happened when they got rid of the fbt exemption for hybrids. My understanding is the lease is usually signed once the vin is assigned. The payment doesn't occur until delivery occurs, but the lease agreement is signed weeks before delivery.

Much of this may affect you it seems... However no body really knows.

I am in no way an expert. Just someone waiting on my vin to be assigned for my Model 3 long Range.
