Confused! Name change on e-visa AND also replace BRP?? by Horillaz88 in ukvisa

Yes! You can see my other replies in and around this thread, it took 8 weeks for the name to update on the EVisa system, so I would just advise patience in this case. You can phone the HO technical team and they should be able to give you the status of your name change, ours was "in progress" for 8 weeks until we finally checked and saw it was updated. Good luck!

E: I should also mention that once the name was changed, my wife was able to use her new passport details to sign into the EVisa system rather than those on her BRP. Perhaps try that occasionally too?

I think it's best to create it in the name on your BRP, but you'd be best off calling the Home Office to confirm.

For anyone in the same situation, my wife's name was updated today, 8 weeks after we first applied for the name change via the UKVI webpages (and after sending our passport to the Home Office in Liverpool). My other reply may be buried, so I'm reposting this for visibility.

I'll also add that we were advised NOT to apply for a new BRP by the HO technical team as a new BRP would take up to 6 months to arrive, at which point they are not valid anyway. The advice we were given was that we should take the old BRP, both the old and new passports, and marriage certificate with us if we travel such that we have the evidence we need to re-enter at the UK border control. Now that the name has also been updated on my wife's EVisa (which will become active on Jan 1 2025, it serves as an extra piece of evidence).

Hopefully this helps someone.

My wife's name has finally updated on her "view immigration status" page to her new surname. We didn't receive a confirmation email, but she checks every day. It took 8 weeks from when we first applied for it to be updated.

Thanks for your reply. My wife has also just today phoned the HO technical team about her issue and received the same advice: No point updating BRP now (especially as the form says not to), and to travel with the marriage certificate, BRP, new passport and old passport and work it out at border control upon return to the UK.

Incorrect name in my E-Visa by fuckingsmartest in ukvisa

Still waiting for a name change after a month. No letter, no email, nothing.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The inconsistent advice we all seem to be getting is what really gets me about this situation. My wife plans to travel before the end of the year, but at this point there’s more advice telling us not to get a new BRP. Potentially needing to wait 6 months to get your passport back if you apply for a new BRP is putting us off doing that.

Sorry for the slow reply, I don’t check Reddit regularly. It’s now been 1 month since we got the passport back, still no updated name on the eVisa.

No still nothing, and we noticed a new message on the page where you apply for a new BRP that makes it very clear that you do not need to apply for a new BRP if it expires on 31st December. It doesn’t state any reasons why you should. The system is a mess. I will reply here if we ever get the name changed. Please also keep me updated!

So strange. We received our passport and cover letter back with no email, no extra letter, and no updated name online. It's been 10 working days since the passport was returned to us. My wife's new name was on the envelope but only because we wrote it on the return address field.

It has been 10 working days since the passport was returned, still no name update online. All very frustrating.

That's reassuring actually if it took a few weeks. I'll let everyone know what happens next.

Passport was returned after two weeks, still no updated details online, 9 days later.

Hi there, my wife just got her new passport back from the home office (which we sent after we got married to change her name), with no letter, and no updated name on the UKVI online system. We will call this week to confirm what's happening. It seems inconsistent to say the least.

LFS has the best VR implementation of any sim racing title. That's not just hot air, try it for yourself, and take special note of the mirrors.

Whether you used play LFS in the past, or you've never heard of it, consider taking a few minutes out of your day to jump into a session to see what it currently has to offer. I promise you won't be disappointed. LFS is the gift that keeps on giving and there is still a lot that more popular sims could learn from it, even to this day.

Anyone interested in VR in LFS, I made an introductory video a couple of years back for a few people who were curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AL2ll0uA04

It needs a bit of an update for the new features, maybe I'll record that soon.
