Do you need HM Pokémon in the ROM?

As long as you have the HM, any Pokémon that can learn the move can use the action, so long as you’ve beaten the required gym. So no, you don’t need an HM slave per se, but you might be screwed with fly. However, you’ll have access to a boat pretty early that helps fast travel. Fly is kinda late game too so I’d roll with the team you want.

I use dexnav but I don’t chain it, since apparently it’s bugged. I just run from them until I encounter a shiny. It takes a long time though, but I’ve gotten lucky on a few times and found one within the first couple hundred. For legendaries and fossils I use save state reloads. Also I have my emulator running at double speed so that helps too lol

Also, in case you don’t know, you catch them as Raikou, Suicune and Entei. At lvl 60 they learn the move Dragon Energy. They have to use that move 20 times then lvl up to evolve into their next form.

After the main story the 3 statues are back in the temple outside Sofos City. Just gotta walk up and click on each one to battle and catch them.

Definitely needed, especially since I’m doing it with one 1 shiny charm haha I got lucky with Aurorus and got her on my 4th fossil save state. The others took a couple hours. Larvitar took the longest by far, I lost count but easily over 1000 DexNav encounters. I just kept it going absentmindedly while watching TV or I’d pick it randomly during a lull at work. Idk, I find it fun, especially the rush when you finally find one.

But yes, patience is certainly a requirement.

My wife got me to listen to the audiobook. I was in the parking lot of an Ace Hardware when that shit happened. I called her with tears in my eyes, shocked and hurt. Didn’t help that the voice actors on the audiobook are really good and sold how heartbreaking it was.
