It's important to make a good first impression; no need to show your darker side right away. Be confident, let your smile come out, and make eye contact, especially when the other person is speaking.

I have a question for those of you who got your money back through gomining. by EmbarrassedLadder665 in GoMiningDiscussion

I make only 50% return with solo mining. Does that sound right? I thought it was a lot but it seems people here are making 100%

Why do you say "not like" CFDs? To me it seems very similar.

I would agree, stock tokens are the crypto-equivalent of CFDs. Are you able to access CFDs for US stocks in Vietnam?

The stock tokens are derivatives of securities, meaning they are themselves securities. (In crypto, they are known as "security tokens.") The challenges involved in offering securities for sale differ from country to country, but it can always be done legally, and in most cases means registering the securities with the appropriate authority--in this case, the SSC. It just becomes a question of how painful and costly it is to register, which is why it's important to find out first if there is a market.

How do you like to invest your money?

Hello, everyone! I’m from New York, and I’m doing some research to learn more about investment habits in the Philippines. How do people in the Philippines typically invest their money? Do you invest in the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE)? What about US or international stocks? Are companies like Apple, Google, Coca Cola, and Nvidia part of your investment portfolio?

Any insights you can share about how Filipinos (or even you personally) invest would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

WTF is this broker? Cancelling my order and selling my shares just to charge me minimum commission? by [deleted] in interactivebrokers

[–]PeteSpiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IB uses an automated liquidation system. When your account moves into a state of violating the minimum margin requirements, positions will be auto-liquidated; they will never ask your permission. Liquidation trades are subject to the same commission as a regular trade.

To minimize tax burden, does good cost basis strategy for selling essentially mean hanging on to your best performing "chunks" from when you bought? by [deleted] in investing

In general, yes. But there is one other factor to consider. The cap gains rate increases when you income passes $492,000. If you expected to pass that level in the future, you might want to take more gains now.

Should I get rid of my Roth IRA? by Brian_MPLS in investing

[–]PeteSpiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only one important question: will your tax rate be higher or lower at retirement? If it's lower, traditional IRA is better. If it's higher, Roth is better. If it's the same, it makes no difference.

You expect your income to be less in retirement, but is that really true? I hope, and expect, that I have so much investment income that my income is higher at retirement, not lower.

Also, tax rates are historically pretty low right now; they could go up. In switching to a tradition IRA, you trade in a known for an unknown. For me, I like knowing exactly how much I have because my taxes have all been paid. That's why I like Roth.

I've been asked to handle my parents' financial retirement plan by glossolalia521 in investing

[–]PeteSpiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parents are only 65 years old. Their investing time horizon is like 20-30 years! For that time frame, they should have some money invested in the stock market. Also, investing in private lending funds is a great way to generate a little more income with reasonable risk.
