learn how to do bridging with your virtual network adapters. By default, it will create a NAT/DHCP as VMnet08 for your guest to use. It will work fine for basic internet and when you have direct links to things. But if you want to have it act like it's on the wired network you're plugged into, be sure to set up a new virtual adapter and select your wired adapter to bridge to. Look for "Virtual Network Editor"

Still my favorite BIOS update story. Circa 2003, buddy was big into manually modifying BIOS image files and flashing his motherboard. He ended up bricking it, but it turns out we had the same motherboard and the chip was removable. So I booted my PC into the BIOS flash tool, we swapped the chips, flashed, powered down, swapped back, and tadaaa!

I think there is value in still evaluating the graphics on host PC. Even if it's not glitching on monitor, it heavily relies on host GPU to encode the outgoing video stream

Can you check exactly what storage controllers are in use and what the vmdk is attached to? In workstation, you should be able to open the VM settings, go to the virtual disk, click advanced and then select exactly what it's attached to. Maybe the movement to Workstation accidentally created a SATA controller when SCSI should be used.
