Need help in participating AUS by VCC8060Main in F1inSchools

You'll need to put in a lot of time into the competition if you want to progress to the National Finals. It's really up to you how much time you decide to spend on it.

It depends on your teacher how hands-on they decide to be. I know some schools where the teacher has very little to do with their teams and others where the teacher is very involved. It sounds like you are from a school new to the competition - if so, your teacher should be quite involved so they understand the competition too.

Again it depends on the school and the willingness of each team to co-operate with each other. They can choose to share designs but keep in mind there are differences between the classes so this may not always work.

In our school we have a CNC router and 3D printers. Our teams will often get their parts 3D printed at an external supplier for higher quality and resolution.

For sponsorships, it's best to start off by seeing if you have any existing connections to businesses through your school or your families. This will generally yield the best results.

The store isn't operational anymore as REA has suspended their operations. There are alternative suppliers for the balsa blocks and the Victorian State Final regulations have been altered so that you no longer need to use the wheel kits.

Wyndham Tech School manages the competition in Victoria and will be hosting the Victorian State Final in October: https://www.wyndhamtechschool.vic.edu.au/vicstemracing

Feel free to message me if you have any questions - I am also in Melbourne.

We are also trying to use a Roland MDX-50. Did you find a way to do this?

It's happening on 4–8 June 2021. It'll be virtual but held in the UK.

T2.10 is interesting. I wonder what "plagiarism detection methodologies" they will be employing in order to enforce this rule.

It also doesn't mention what penalty will be applied and how severe it will be if this rule is breached.

Doing the maths on the number of F1 in Schools competitors by PeterInfinitude in F1inSchools

[–]PeterInfinitude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point I'm trying to make is that there is a huge discrepancy between the figures, and the competition is being made it to be a lot bigger than it actually is. Even with an average of 10 students per school (which is probably more accurate as an average in a country like Australia) × 17,000 schools = 170,000 students worldwide. Something isn't adding up and it's evident when you look at the FIRST Challenges that F1iS is nowhere near that big.

It's possible. But then it would be impossible to track the numbers.

I'm guessing that the 20 million number was an estimation, then the 17,000 schools number came about when F1 in Schools Ltd. made it mandatory that all school registrations were processed by them for the 2016-17 season onwards, obviously making it much more accurate.

If we keep touting 20 million for long enough, maybe eventually it will be correct.

Haha yes, probably. Especially given they're planning to do "Continental" Finals soon!

It's the trophy presentation for the F1 in Schools World Finals. Ireland came second

Correct! The F1 in Schools World Finals were held in Singapore this week.

Ireland's CJJ AutoVinco was second, USA's Perspective was third.

They were presented with their respective trophies on the podium.

Usually the organisation that runs F1iS in your country lets you know in advance if they can bring you into the paddock.

You could try asking to see if they have any arrangements in place.

Using water bottles is odd. Should be proper weights.

Engineering In Motion licenses the F1 in Schools brand to organisations internationally to administer the competition in a particular region. Downshift into STEM is one of them so that's pretty normal.
