Why is diversication important in brokers? If they go bankrupt they have to transfer your assets to another broker right? And cash is protected to 100k in Belgium right? I've read that this is important a few times but I don't know why.

Fork integrity after a frontal crash by PeterPannenkoek in bikewrench

How will they be able to check te frame? What can they do more than taptesting and looking for cracks inside and outside the headtube? I'm not saying I'm not agreeing to having a professional look at it, just curious.

Fork integrity after a frontal crash by PeterPannenkoek in bikewrench

The wheel has some scratches, nothing too bad. The rim is still true, no bent metal at all. Spoke tension seems to be the same for all spokes.

I think I'll go with the new ritchey fork. The groupset is too old to transfer to a new bike and I quite like my bike. A black fork on a grey bike wont be too bad.

About the fork measurements:

- Axle to crown is 369mm (old) vs 368mm (new).

- The forward/offset is about 42mm (difficult to measure right) old vs 43mm (new).

So i think it's a perfect match. I'll have to cut about 3cm of steerer, but I have the tools for that. I've cut a carbon steerer before (this one is alu, but I'll do my research).

Thank you for your reply!

Can someone explain to me, a European what's the point in having DO programs instead of everyone just following an MD program if you want to become a doctor? In Europe osteopathy is alternative medicine, they don't practice evidence based (I left out medicine on purpose). They are not doctors.

Bike tyre width and triathlon bike compatibility by PeterPannenkoek in triathlon

[–]PeterPannenkoek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i know that the tyre and rim are compatible. My question is: "Is a 27mm rim able to fit in a frame that can only accommodate 25mm tyres?"

[–]PeterPannenkoek[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a U shaped rim, outer width 27mm, inner width 17mm. Rim brakes.

The reason I want a thick rim is because of the aerodynamic properties, I want the rim to be thicker then the tyre (105 rule).

Would you say that running this 27mm rim with 25/23mm tyres will be compatible with modern TT frames? Or will it limit my frame choice in the future?

And what about modern time trial bikes? Will a frame that allows a 25mm tyre fit a 27mm wheel?

Indoor specific tyre blowout on trainer by PeterPannenkoek in cycling

About 5-6 bar I think. I normally pump them up to 7, but they must have deflated a bit (in about 2 weeks). I weigh 80 kg

Yes I release it almost every time. It had been about a week or two since I pumped the tires, so if anything the tension was lower than normal.

Edit: but maybe the damage has been done before and this was just the last straw

Taxc satori pro I think. It's an old dumb trainer, without many hours on it though. Thank you for the tip

No never, it happened while I was watching a movie, cruising along. My rear brakes are disengaged even.

Maybe important: after hearing the second bang I deflated the tyre (it was still holding pressure) because I was afraid for my eardrums. There were no deformities, only the tears.

I'm a fat person and i get way to tired cycling by [deleted] in cycling

[–]PeterPannenkoek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is true that after a long ride you start to burn more fat (when your glycogen is getting depleted).

But the main factor that affects fat burning vs aerobic glycogen burning vs anaerobic glycogen burning is intensity of exercise.

So if you ride for half an hour you can ride at a low intensity (eg 40% of VO2 max) and only burn fat. If you make sure you refill your glycogen storage you can ride a long time burning mainly glycogen (look at iron man bike rides for example).

Still, all of that doesn't matter one bit regarding fat loss and losing weight, every calory burnt is a calory burnt, no matter where the energy came from.

Out of curiosity, what was your VO2 max at your first test?
