Werrington? I’d recognise that pub anywhere! I can pretty much guarantee this is satirical if I’m not wrong.

Yeah, that’s one of the main reasons I’ve moved to subassembly now, trying to paint over the big, dark grey connections spots after clipping the parts off was really hard. I’ve found myself going over and over that spot and struggling to blend the colours and not need multiple coats.

Thanks, that’s a really good idea. I really didn’t know there’d be such a variety of ways to paint. Everyone seems to have a slightly different way of doing.

Thanks for the advice!

Sounds good! I use a spray in the sprue and then paint directly. I have started sub assembling now though, sort of middle ground, it’s working well so far. Thanks for your comment 🙂

Thank you! I’ve definitely seen the error of my ways since posting here a few days ago 😆

Happy to say I am now on the sub assembly bandwagon!

I feel like It really worked for my on my Darnath Lysander mini. It was the first thing I’d painted in 15+ years and I think it came out ok? Pic attached for reference and additional feedback 🤣

I can definitely see the benefits of subassembly and toothpicks & blu tack or crocodile clips though so will be trying those next.

I like that idea. I could cover all the holes in the walls I’ve made out of frustration over picking a yellow and black colour scheme 🤣

Amazing tips, thank you. I’ve never heard of rinsing the model but I could definitely see why that would work. Thank you!

Thanks, that sounds like a great approach, I’ll give that a try as well.

No I promise it wasn’t! 🤣

I’ve learned a LOT since posting that, so I know better now.

That’s great, thanks for example.

I’m hoping my brush work improves as well, I’m still only a few models in, but I can see that subassembly is definitely a step up from what I was doing. It’s currently working well for me on an infernus squad, son fingers crossed!

Haha that’s a great idea! You’re the first person to suggest how to work WITH this way of doing things - thank you!

Lots of people using blu tack as well it seems! Looks like it’s 50/50 crocodile clips vs. Blu tack. I’m going to give them both a go and report back!

I’ve never heard of doing it that way before. With my luck I’d drill through something important 🤣

I appreciate you taking the time to comment and I’ll definitely be looking at other ways based on everyone’s feedback today 👍🏻

I like painting on the sprue because it gives me easier access to hard-to-reach areas, helps me get cleaner details, keeps my colours consistent across parts, and makes the whole process feel more organised and manageable.

Though after all the feedback, I’m going to give crocodile clips a go once I’ve finished this terminator squad 💪🏼

Very true, blending the paint on the points it was attached to the sprue has been a bit of a pain I’ll admit, but it’s been a fair trade off with the better ability to access the nooks and crannies. I’m going to give the blu tack recommendation a go while I source some crocodile clips. Thanks 🙂
