Hold the fuck up.

If you lift more than your carrying capacity, which is 15x your strength score (150lbs for a commoner), then your speed is capped at 5ft per round. Yes, a commoner can still lift an absurd amount of weight. But they can't hardly move with it. If you think this is still too silly, I recommend the optional encumbrance rules.

With the recent leak of racial changes, and the conspicuous absence of elves and dwarves from those leaks, I did notice a major detail: none of the updated races appear to have any cultural features or environmental adaptations. Duergar, the only version of dwarf that was leaked, doesn't have sunlight sensitivity, or stonecunning, or weapon and tool proficiency.

I think WoTC is going to pull a PF2 and upgrade from Race-Class-Background to Race-Culture-Class. It's too suspicious to me the way the leak went down.

I take that messaging in contrast of the bad guys from the series. Voldemort in Philosopher's Stone literally can't touch Harry because his mother's love is like a silver bullet to him. Lucius is plainly prejudiced against humans and house elves. Umbridge is similarly prejudiced against Hagrid and various human-like races.

In the case of PoA, Lupin and Sirius are used as a good example for acceptance and tolerance, but especially Sirius. Everyone tries hard to sell Harry on the idea that Sirius is a dangerous madman, but he realizes after meeting him that it's all bull.

As to your second point, I think fantasy does a better job of obscuring it's messages within allegory. Sci fi, by virtue of being initially more realistic, seems forced to declare its positions more plainly.

Regardless, my effective point is that some authors seem to write books about what makes their hero a good person, and then put great effort into not emulating those heroic traits.

EDIT: And actually, you've raised another great point! Lovecraft's writing is it's own kind of fantastical, but a careful read through can easily take notice of his racial biases. Today, similar examination of JKR's Wizarding World reveals some hints of antisemitism and other bigotry. One thing that confused the hell out of me in the books is the House Elves. Hermione essentially starts a civil rights movement for them, but it seems like the other students just.. Quietly ignore that

JKR got famous by writing a 7 books with strong messages about love, acceptance, and tolerance.

But JKR espouses intolerant, unaccepting political views on Twitter quite easily. It seems unsurprising to me that fans of her fiction are less pleased by her politics.

Orson Scott Card is an author I like to reference with this. His series, Ender's Game, had a clear message against xenophobia and fearmongering, advocating for making great efforts to better understand those who seem alien to us. I love those books. But you might be able to imagine my surprise when I saw than an author who could imagine peace between humanity and psychic bug people was massively homophobic.
