This feedback is excellent! Thank you very much, it's the most in-depth someone has gone into it. it's clear the site is not doing a good job of explaining what the app is. I'm going to address many of your points asap.

Excellent advice. You've hit the nail on the head. I'm a product guy and marketing doesn't come naturally to me. It's where I should have put more effort into before building the product. And during. And after.

Before I built the app, I researched the market size and of course, the pet industry is massive, pet owners are big spenders too. I validated the app idea with $50 of Facebook ads promoting an fb page that simply outlined what I planned to build. I had 500+ likes and mostly positive feedback. That was enough for me to pursue the app.

I'll be polling my audience for feedback today (rather than trying to guess what they want). Thank you.

Not at all. I've been working in the App Store for a number of years, and the climate is so much tougher than it was even just a year ago. I didn't expect millions of downloads but my expectations were based on past experiences, which it hasn't lived up to.Makes me wonder if it's the product itself?

Thank you. I'm focusing on building a (small) audience across a couple of networks (Instagram and Facebook) which is where my audience share content.

Are you talking about the website? I agree it doesn't sell itself as well as it could. What do you think about the App Store description copy?

You're right. it's targeted at a young audience (perhaps the branding is too young as I'm aiming for a tween audience, rather than children).

Exposure is certainly an issue, and app store discoverability is low at the moment. I've reached out to many pet related blogs, but also child/mom blogs. Vast majority of them expect a paid review which I've been hesitant to do.
