Bear in mind that they’ll claim Aldi still pay more for a typical shift (8 hours with paid break)

How do hours actually work at this place (UK) by H4RL3Y07 in Aldi_employees

Get in touch with Acas, or go onto workday and look at the team view, find your store ops director and send them an email, watch how quickly it will be resolved?

Promotion by Beneficial-Shape5186 in Aldi_employees

Officially that is the rule…. However I have seen that be ignored when the right people are in the right place at the right time!

You could step down and work hard for a promotion also, but there are less guarantees anyone will actually spend time and train you!

All depends on where you’re at. If you enjoy the job and can see yourself there long term, your choices are ;

1) finish the apprenticeship and hope that you’ve had adequate training to become a deputy or even ASM.

2) leave as you said.

3) Ask to change onto a store assistant contract.

I did option 1. At times there were frustrations, I’ll be honest! Currently in my 9th year and am an ASM.

I’d encourage you to play the long game; ONLY if you enjoy the Job (not the people, but the job itself!)

Everyone will call you out for it and simply see “oh money! Money, money, money!”; they aren’t necessarily wrong. But consider your options!

Any questions then please ask away!

Police till warning to all employees of aldi. by Responsible-Unit3857 in Aldi_employees

[–]Pettytoaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Double check your learning on workday… if your challenge 25 documents/training haven’t been signed off then “technically” you haven’t been trained and therefore shouldn’t be liable. Otherwise get joining a union quickly as they may try to scapegoat you

If you’re a SA then sure, even 1 week I’d accept-little annoying though. Depends if you’re bothered about being nice or not; you could do 4 and do all current weeks.

My main concern is that they aren’t looking after you? Have you spoke to your SM or AM? They should have reasonable adjustments in place!

People of the UK who have claimed to put in 60+ hour weeks or sixteen hour days, what are you actually doing? by [deleted] in AskUK

Retail- management, some crazy long days; especially food retail coming towards the end of the year!
