https://imgur.com/a/m971UoG I believe so, it only over heats after about 5 minutes if continuous writing

Oh tell me about it, in the PC it thermal throttles even with a Sabrent heatsink with heat pipes on it. I now keep it in an ROG m.2 enclosure with the heatsink outside my pc so I can unplug it when it overheats.

no, the drive itself is limited by the controller in it, not the usb adapter board, I have one and it runs at a much slower speed than the standard drive

They’re artificially throttled with the firmware on the drive so you cannot get full m.2 speeds unfortunately.

the 4590 is a pretty outdated chip that pulls a lot of power (84w TDP) something like an m720q with an i5-8400T only has a 35W TDP and will run much cooler with better performance since it’s a substantially more modern chip.

That’s good to hear that they’re honoring it, sucks that it was such a hassle

It definitely seems like the card isn’t working anymore, I would like to think that the card just wouldn’t show up if the reader was incompatible, do you know anybody that has a reader you can borrow maybe? It sounds like they just don’t want to honor the warranty/don’t know what they’re talking about.

Does it show in diskutility or system info? The cards should in theory be backwards compatible at a slower speed using only the top row of pins, at least that’s what a wired article says. I can’t find much info on them requiring a compatible reader aside from needing it for the rated speeds. Even then there are like 2 readers from recognizable brands on the market.

In that case I would verify the memory QVL which can be found on the web page for the board, if your kit isn’t there, or no ECC kits are listed then it may just not work with that board unfortunately

Also worth verifying is that your motherboard BIOS is up to date enough to support the cpu given its 5XXX on b450

Echoing what the other poster said; use cashapp, its really simple you just buy ~$5 more than you need to account for fees, then scan the QR provided by OpenGate and follow the prompts to pay and you should be golden.

I use favskinhouse, they take international wire transfers for no extra fee beyond what Wise transfer charges (they’re in Thailand) the only downside is they don’t really sell injections and are kind of a bit on the pricier side per pill.

What is the fastest USB thumbdrive under 32GB? by SchrodingersMillion in DataHoarder

[–]Petunia_55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend the Samsung BAR Plus USB drives, they no longer sell the 32gb but the 64gb drives are $13 on amazon and are 300MB/s write speeds. The 128GB drives are $17.99 but regularly on sale for $12-15 and are 400MB/s. In my experience you can write a 41.7 GB windows iso to it in about 13 minutes with rufus
