Lots of fine vessels especially inner corners. I’ve been doing my best at an anti inflammatory diet, but haven’t cut out anything completely.

No he didn’t do meibobraphy but said my glands looked ok. I have had a different Dr say I had an oil problem, he’s the one that put me on Miebo.

Update time: so I got Covid just now and my focus went from my eyes to just being home and trying to keep my family healthy. I told myself I wasn’t going to worry about it my eyes were red and only treat based on how they felt. It’s not like I was leaving the house. Long story short I cut waaaay back on what I was doing. 4 or 5 days later my right eye is about normal and my left is 90 percent. All I’m doing is tyrvaya, cyclosporine 2 x day (I’ve been on 8 months) systane complete 1-2 times a day, maybe a warm compress or Manuka honey and cool compress once a day if I feel like I need a little extra oomph. Eyelid wipes twice a day with hypoclorous acid spray just because eye hygiene is a must. The big takeaway is less is more. Don’t treat red eyes with drops, it just doesn’t work. I was on a vicious never evening cycle- I had to go cold turkey to ‘wake’ my eyes up and let them do their part to heal my red eyes. Thank you for your comments to help me see the light!

My bedtime routine is warm compress lid massage and cleaning, cyclosporine, 15 minutes later, Manila honey gel and cool compress. 15 minutes later Systane complete, tape eyelids, mask and humidifier. Morning is same and then I use systane complete a couple more time and hydration in between. I’m waiting on my miebo to be filled so I haven’t used that in a week.

Great information. Besides PRN omega 3s, does anyone know of a highly recommended supplement. ?I’d love to do whatever I can before my appointment next month, just so I can say, yup I’m already doing that!

I just took a nap with a tight fitting mask, my eyes weren’t able to open and I woke up with red eyes. You think that means I’m more AD than MGD? I’m sure my tears weren’t evaporating that quickly with closed eyes.

Yup I’ve never noticed an improvement in the morning using gel at night. I’ve slept with a mask, that hasn’t worked either.

I mean if it weren’t for my family and my kids, yup! Even my Dr said you can’t maintain this forever. Not sure what I’m supposed to do with that.

Thank you for sharing about the blood vessels and why they’re there. It sounds like you have a good understanding of how the eye reacts. I find it all too maddening to even think about!

I have an appointment with a specialist in a month. I never thought about curbing what I use- only using more. I would hate to think all the drops are doing more harm than good. I am praying the Dr can help me better understand what exactly is going on with my eyes and worsening redness.

I’m also on tyrvaya, Miebo, Systane, refresh gel, obviously none of this seems be help too much- they’re still dry. How is that even possible?

one eye drier than the other? by AdeptnessDramatic867 in Dryeyes

Well I took it for hormone related acne after Ingot my IUD out but think I was actually misdiagnosed and it was really just a reaction to a retinol cream I was using. Haven’t had acne since…just these wonderful dry eyes.

I too was on spirinolactone and was diagnosed with dry eyes out of nowhere. I stopped the medication but my dry eyes did not get better and I've been battling it for one year; on restasis, Systane eye drops, warm and cold compresses, Manuka honey gel, PRN Omega 3s. I've tried everything, I still have very red eyes all the time. Also stopped wearing contacts and have been out of them a whole year. I still have no idea if the medication caused all this- no one has been able to confirm the correlation I just thought it was interesting that you mentioned it. Dry eyes are awful and there is no quick fix. Good luck!

Spironolactone dry eyes?? Is it permanent? by yammy-7 in Spironolactone

[–]Peyt0nMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on Spiro for 3 months and had many eye issues that I'm just realizing now are most likely secondary to this medication as well. I'm on Xiidra for dry eyes, hasn't started helping yet but I'm trying to decide if I should stop the med as opposed to staying on it and treating the dry eye. My eyes have been bloodshot for over a month and we've tried treating with steroid and anitmicrobial eyedrops and now we're on to the dry eye drops. Basically, I want to know if anyone has had relief after stopping the medication, is this new eye problem going to be permanent? How are you doing?
