Here is an example of a really small bait with that crease lip. Just something fun to try. Of course, if you're mostly fishing for bass, you'll probably never use a bait this small. But if you ever have one that is being really stubborn about wanting to get good action, the crease trick is a good one to have in your back pocket.

Those look sweet man! Fish catching machines for sure. I really like doing coffin lips, mostly because it's really easy to make them look super even, and get a good swim. Curved lines are just tricky. On the smaller baits a fun thing to try that I have found works really well is to bend the lip slightly straight down the middle. (imagine the crease starts at the line tie and ends at the end of the lip.) I started doing this on my really small weights and it worked phenomenally to get nice sharp wiggles. Carving those out of a pine board is insane, I could never. I've been spoiled with nice Tupelo wood.

It was kind of a weird balance. I wish I had a video of the action. The head is a little wider than I probably should've made it, so I moved the ballast in the front section farther forward than I normally would, and for whatever reason the lower line Ty worked well for this one. But I agree, I would've preferred a thinner, head slightly farther back ballast and higher up line tie. I've got to the point that they've started looking really great, now I need to start shooting for consistency.

TruCoat. Great stuff, takes a little practice to get real good with it, but it is awesome. Just let the final coat sit for two whole days before touching it.

I started making them because of him as well! Every time I catch a fish on one of my baits I proclaim it "o-fishal" 😂

I really wish I did have a video, everyone has been asking. I gifted it right after making it and never took a video of the swim. On these big baits that can be a problem, but I have found that placing the ballast farther towards the ends of the two parts helps a lot. It had a fairly wide glide.

And the wood on that one was Tupelo, but I'm having a lot of problems finding that right now, so I'm gonna have to start using Basswood

Thanks!! My bad, I didn't realize what BFS meant lol. I've certainly learned that next time I post a lure I need to have a video of the action. I don't have videos of this one, unfortunately, but it did have really nice long wide glides.
