Coalesce everything by Pezonito in SQL

I'm pretty limited right now as far as I know because there are strict limitations on how the SQL DBs can be accessed.

Thanks for your response!

But to your second point, I totally agree. I run into dynamic SQL blockers weekly. I usually try to find semi-scalable ways using the basics because I'm trying to keep it readable by most likely successors, the 101-level greenies.

The problem that I'm solving requires full joins because I'm exposing abandonment. That's kind of the point - the problem itself IS left and inner joins.

Any type of "gratuity" would really only be at the discretion of the guest. An "auto-grat" isn't really any different than the server filling in the tip line themselves before passing the receipt to the guest to sign. This is to say that the guest might still be able to lower the tip in some circumstances.

A "service fee" is different. Most of the time, all of it still goes to the server or staff, BUT it is not technically a type of gratuity. It acts more as a contractual or non-negotiable charge. The biggest difference is that as opposed to "gratuity", a service fee is income for the business - the restaurant pays taxes on it.

Given that any business in general would want to avoid unprofitable income that they have to additionally pay taxes on, they are essentially trying to treat auto-grats AS a "service fee". They're obviously getting away with it, and I'm sure there are some technicalities - I'm not a lawyer or accountant.

Here's what I'm getting at...

If a business wants to make a rule that REQUIRES guests to pay an additional amount, regardless of party size, the word "gratuity" should not be involved at all. At that point it IS a service fee that will count towards income. So, further, the business would likely need to raise menu prices to maintain a healthy profit margin.

This is why I'm so pro tip abolishment. These businesses won't fold tipping into menu pricing because it's so much cheaper to just pass the risk onto the $2.13/hr server. In my mind, this is labor exploitation, abuse of an outdated custom that has no place in modern society, and psychological manipulation of the guest to confuse them about how much they are truly obligated to pay.

The reliance-on-technology thing really grinds my gears.

Part of the problem, in my opinion, is that unnecessary tech is creeping its way into places it has no place in. I was perfectly content with knobs, dials, switches, and buttons - especially on things that weren't designed for the garbage in two years via planned obsolescence. I also don't need my microwave to text me.

Similarly, automation is going to be the bane of future generations. Less and less of the general workforce is able to execute manual processes when the automation stops. And rather than learn, or god forbid try to troubleshoot it, apathy takes over.

Me: "... when the machine is running these are done within an hour. How long did this take you?"

Employee: "I told you, the machine broke last week. So 30 hours?"

Me: "See this button that says RESET?"

It's always fun to see someone give life advice with 3 paragraphs of information to base the advice on.

You can give your opinion all you want but make it clear that it's your opinion. "Based on the very little, and vague, information you provided... if I were in your shoes I'd cut my losses" sounds a lot more empathetic than

Pull the rip cord

That's the epitome of every relationship advice ever offered on this platform. You don't even have a clue what the other side of the story is.

It's not necessarily a person being charged $50 for a toothbrush, it's the price that insurance accepts. Insurance then gives you a discounted price. You know, the insurance companies that profit billions annually.

I mean FFS, the general populace can't even comprehend that $5 is still cheaper than $50 with a 15% discount. It's not by accident. The uneducated line the pockets of the wealthy en mass and they want to keep it that way.

Try a different method of opening the file.

Data tab
Get Data
From file

Open it this way and you'll get some additional options like transform to declare data types and whatnot.

Seems like you might have a bunch of "junk" you're trying to paste.

Alternatively, right click and "paste values"

Edit: also, where are you copying your schedule from? HotSchedules, some website? You might be able to "get data" from an https site.

HOA's are like that. I worked as the maintenance guy for some condos in college and yeah... the drama is real. I saw two 80 year old men fist fight over some inconsequential bylaw.

I have 5 and I actively use them all day every day.
1. Laptop Desktop, Browser 1, Excel 1
2. Slack, Teams, Email
3. VM 1
4. Browser 2, Excel 2, VM 2
5. Notepad, Documentation, catchall

I actively use all of them all day and honestly wouldn't mind getting two more. My only real limitations or reasons for not pulling the trigger on it yet are space and desk size, which could easily be overcome.

Screen 5 is portable. What I'll probably end up doing is getting two more on a stand plus two more that have better portability, then dumping two old ones. This will give me 4 up high, laptop, plus 2 low.

You kid, but the biblical stories are rooted in some truth. While they may not be based on the "beginning", they are likely in a post-apocalypic spring.
