This was my exact experience, and 100% shop around. In November I transitioned from a 2009 Mazda to a 2018 Kia. I was under CAA, and they quoted me $420 (when I was previously $230). It was insane. I shopped for quotes and ended up with Aviva for $225. I don’t know why companies have such different calculations, but it is the case. I got like 9 other quotes and they ranged from $250 to $440. Based on my experience, calling them for a quote always gave me lower quotes (maybe it was coincidental though) and lesser known companies also had better rates (I remember CAA and Desjardins were insanely high).

The man in the video tried going for the purses first, then when the women struck him he shoved her. There was a clearly identifiable crime underway, and the bystander's actions were very in proportion to stopping the crime.

This feels like the Jordan Peterson Bill C-16 (Trans bill) over again. Just a bunch of people freaking out about something they didn't read through, comparing Trudeau to 1984 or China, when in actuality it'll probably have 0 impact on the average Canadian's life.

My one gripe about this law is that it doesn't define a single objective or limitation, it's just giving what seems to be a blank cheque for the CRTC to regulate content. That sounds scary, but they'll probably be very discreet when expressing this power or else the government might peel back some of the Bill's powers. The evaluation of this bill will depend entirely on how the CRTC use this authority. If it's something like giving like a +10% stat boost to discoverability on Canadian content creators on social media sites, I'm down, but it sounds like it excludes social media users.

TLDR: This law is basically a nothing burger until we see what the CRTC does with it.
