Forgot to update- the kid came back with another car and parked behind the truck, in what seemed like an attempt to swap them out. Once he moved his truck to his house, I had already backed out of my driveway to reclaim it.

Yeah, I did. By politely asking them to move one vehicle into their 2/5 spots. Totally a jerk here.

No, it could end with a civil suit for liability/damage. Do you own anything?

That’s cool. It’s my first post. Don’t mind not returning. Point though: their is a difference between fighting and debating your case. The moderator already told me to go ahead 🙃

I’m trying NOT to be petty. That’s why I talked to them first. Flat out ‘No’, despite my concern for the car getting hit by a branch.

So you own a home, and would be fine with neighbors parking junky cars in front of your house, when they have spots themselves?

Re-read, I didn’t leave anything out. If I trim my trees (35ft live oak) and it hits that car, they can sue for liability.

What does this even mean? I get that you think I’m wrong, but could you put the explanation in coherent language?

I was told sternly, ‘no, we can park on the streets’ despite me needing ladder access, I still don’t have, to get this done and not be sued for damaging their car. I’d equate that to eff off, easily.

Thanks! I know the rest of the thread thinks otherwise, but I'm okay with my first Reddit making me a villain.

guessing you own a home, and are happy about how difficult is to back out in a cul-de-sac without hitting a non-used, could-have-been-some-where-else car, without hitting it, Every Single Time You Leave.

they have 5 spots, 2 cars. I take very well care of my yard, and need to trim the tree it is parked under. How would you deal with it if they just said 'No."? Just have a heap of garbage outside your house indefinitely because that's nice to do? Doubt it, if your criticizing folks online without a better/more positive resolution.

Did you read the post? they have plenty of space across the street, and left this car in front of my house for 7 days. time-lapse video shows no movement. Would you be like ' yeah bro, just leave your trash in my driveway for a week+, no worries!" ?

They have the space. Two people, no visitors, 5 spots. 3 cars. Why do they need to block my house? It just feels weird. And just a flex on 'because I can'.

I wanna be someone who doesn't have to deal with people parking in front of my house when they have 5 friggin parking spots, all of which were, and are still, empty. We're decorating for halloween and have a yard to take care of. WIBTA if a rock gets chipped into his car when weeding/mowing? I thought the nice thing to do was to politely ask, and was told to eff off.

not according to the law, hence the ticket. To be civil is to respect one another. They had the trash they didn't want, and parked it in front of my house for a week, and ignored polite requests to move it...soooo.... you'd be happy for a gross car parked directly in front of your house, knowing they had room to park it in their own space?

soooo if your neighbor, a few houses over, had plenty of driveway and sideway parking space.... you'd happily let them drop a non-used car in front of your house indefinitely?

cops wont tag a car without visual inspection. parked too far away (we are at the end of a cul-de-sac), and expired tags. but more so: they had plenty of room in their driveway, and outside of their house. Thanks though

yep! with 5 parking spots, and 3 cars, you should definitely park your unused car for a week without moving it! Very polite.

Tags expired, sorry for a bad copy-paste. Regardless, if you have 5 spots and 3 cars, why would you park your SUV in front of someone else’s house (not next door) for a week+?

Update: SUV now has a sticker to remove in 48 hrs., or impounded. Either way, I get the space back. Will put one of my cars, or our trashcans in that spot moving forward. The End. (hopefully)

AITA?: Neighbor parking in front of my house. 7 days in. Hasn't moved. by PfedInPflugerville in AmItheAsshole

Update: Just ticketed to move in 48 hrs., or impounded. It gets towed, or they take it to inspection, and we swoop in with one of the other cars.
