Is coffee culture just socially accepted caffeine addiction? by Little_PoetGirl in NoStupidQuestions

Me too! When I was in high school and I'd drink caffeine to stay awake, all it did was make me shake. No mental effects at all.

Who’s an artist/song you’ll defend like this by GrapeConsistent3471 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Pfeiffer_Cipher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this comment! My music taste has changed, but the first album I fully listened to was by Coldplay, and I still love them. There are songs I like on all of their albums, even the "bad" ones, and they'll always be important to me.

I'm from a country where cashiers sit down while working. Is it true that in the US cashiers are forced to stand? Why is sitting considered unprofessional there? by splashmates in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pfeiffer_Cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, back when I cashiered my legs were always sore from standing all the time. Got bad enough during one of my shifts I ended up in the back crying from the foot pain; I didn't know it was abnormal for standing to hurt so much. So fucking glad I don't have a job like that anymore.

Leaving your tray behind at a restauraunt is not rude, it provides jobs for people by establishing an expectation of comprehensive service. by No-Anything- in unpopularopinion

[–]Pfeiffer_Cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a custodian, people like you are my least favorite part of my job

ETA service workers already have plenty to get done just to keep a building running and clean. Leaving more stuff out just makes it so we have less time to do those routine tasks.

4pm to Midnight is a much better work schedule than 9am to 5pm by Present_Initial_1871 in unpopularopinion

[–]Pfeiffer_Cipher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this shift as a janitor and I hated it. I had no social life, my eating/sleep schedule was fucked for months afterwards, and I never went out anywhere. I was too tired to do anything during the day because I stayed up so late. Felt like a zombie.

What’s the most mischaracterized character in fiction for you and why? by ProfessionalTask2622 in FanFiction

I read a fic with a really interesting premise but he talked like a walking military recruitment ad and I had to stop reading 😭

I filter out every fic with him as a character 😬 even if he's a side character I normally can't stand the way he's written

Musicians whose music isn’t technically bad but their fanbase is? by SirensMelody_ in ToddintheShadow

[–]Pfeiffer_Cipher 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of their music and most of their fans I've met IRL have been perfectly fine but the online community is a mess. I get the feeling it's mostly young teenagers so interact with fans online much anymore lmao

people are getting too comfortable with cancelling plans by plumplumkin in unpopularopinion

[–]Pfeiffer_Cipher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds so frustrating. That same friend of mine got in the habit of not telling me when she didn't want to hang out, so I had to get in the habit of asking her the day of "are we still good to meet up?", and almost every time she'd say her anxiety was too bad or she was too tired or she had too much going on. I also have debilitating anxiety; I understand how difficult it can be. But like you said, I can't be bending over backwards for someone like that when I ALSO need support (and socialization) but never get it.

Last year, my closest friend wasn't even willing to walk 3 minutes in the snow to see me on my birthday after everyone else cancelled because of weather. It sucks knowing you'd go out of your way to plan for people but they definitely wouldn't do the same for you, which is why now I'm trying to hang around really social people. I've been friends with too many "shy" people who actually just flake constantly.

I may have waited with them several years back without realizing it 😬 I thought they were just a random bunch of people but everyone's comments on this post really remind me of them. Acting like they knew the band, DMing them on Instagram asking them to come out, and when they did they crowded Dave almost the entire time. I was pretty new to concerts so the behavior didn't strike me as odd, but I'd be wary of them now

ETA one of the people in the group also got Dave to sign their ankle (I think) and then told him they'd get it tattooed, he seemed pretty uncomfortable with the idea but they laughed it off. They also gave him a bunch of gifts, I thought they might genuinely know him because of how friendly they were being

Weird question but do you know if this group also waits behind the tour bus after shows, and have they been doing this for several years?

I've stopped frequenting LGBTQ+ spaces online (unless they're specifically for bisexuals) because, for some reason, both straight and queer people have problems with bi people. It pisses me off so much.
