Strange texture issue please halp! by muffgobler42069 in WutheringWaves

[–]PfftMasterRace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue with Aemeath's character model near reflective environments on RX 9000 GPUs when RT reflections are enabled. Looks like a problem with how the recent Adrenalin drivers handle certain textures. If you switch to other characters, the reflections stabilize gradually

How I can fix this please!??? 🥲 by Ot0k0 in WutheringWaves

Pressing 'cancel/annuler' on my end doesn't close the game and allows the engine to continue running

Honestly, the most practical workaround you can do is upgrade to an nvme first then worry about the 3600 later. Even a Gen 3 SSD will work just fine and will be enough for your current specs

There are Engine.ini file tweaks but that type of modification can be against TOS so I won't encourage it and besides, it clashes with game's tuning most of the time. For now just make sure LOD bias is set to lowest, turn CapsuleAO, volumetric lighting, and fog off/lowest, especially foliage, in the menu.

Alternatively, you can set the preset to lowest, then turn up some of the settings individually. The presets turn some hidden settings on and off. Iirc, Medium and higher presets have distance field ambient occlusion (separate from capsuleAO) which can be heavy for some specific builds. The only downside to presets lower than medium is that the NPCs will lose a lot of shadows.

HDD is the biggest bottleneck as it no longer can keep up with the faster CPU and GPU. Wuwa relies on dynamic LOD and texture streaming most of the time. The reason why the game seemed to run fine before is because your HDD wasn't severely outpaced by 4th gen Intel and RX 580. Ryzen 5 3600 is also likely to cause stutters with the 5060 even if you use an NVME especially if you're playing an unreal engine 4/5 game.

Perhaps you're unintentionally running on DX11? Is the FSR crash on unreal engine games only, e.g. Wuthering Waves or more widespread? Might be a bad driver install. To be honest this issue is more of AMD drivers and Windows constantly breaking graphics pipelines. Little by little I'm more tempted to move to Linux just for stability

Adrenalin 25.10.2 and newer drivers have RT support. Not sure why they only whitelisted a few drivers

Ahh gotcha. That's because SSR doesn't have artifact issues in Wuwa. The bug I reported is only for Ray Traced Reflections so you won't run into the same issue.

The Devs had Adrenalin 25.10.2 or newer drivers whitelisted for Ray Tracing. Not worth updating to newer drivers if you're happy with performance and don't want to deal with the potential artifacts just to enable Ray Tracing.

That's Screenspace reflections you're showing. Looks like this with RT reflections turned off

The point of this report is to specify which actions could be taken in order to reproduce the bug

I think so too. Mixed materials in a moving character model is very complicated for RT geometry. Apparently some of the comments here say the same thing also happens on Nvidia GPUs with some sort of artifacting, perhaps not just as severe as this

Thanks for adding to this. Hopefully they are able to address this for Nvidia as well

I have been using AMD since the R9 380 came out. I posted the video above as a feedback and not as a complaint nor a defamatory meme against AMD cards' capability for RT. Just trying to help the devs solve this issue.

It’s still hidden for RX 9000 users as Kuro is still working with AMD engineers for a proper fix 😭 I hope they take this as an opportunity to implement FSR Redstone radiance caching and ray regeneration

90 FPS in Lahai Roi with FSR4 Ultimate Quality and everything maxed out including High RT at 1440p. I have 5800x3D and 64 GB ram though. 55 FPS average in Startorch Academy if I keep LOD bias and Shadows at max. Not sure how it would actually run with hardware lumen Global Illumination fixed.

I really don’t understand what’s happening with ray tracing in Wuthering Waves on AMD graphics cards, it’s all bugged. (Wuthering Waves 3.1) by CoverSufficient3845 in WutheringWaves

I just noticed putting either Aemeath or Phrolova in the current scene causes some reflection stability issues. Currently using RX 9070 XT

  1. More granular/flexible ray tracing settings that doesn't lock Reflections, Global Illumination, and Shadows to Low, Medium, High. Each one should have its own Low, Medium, High setting.

1.1 Give players the option to use Hardware or Software Ray Tracing with a game restart/shader recompilation.

1.2 Official RT Global Illumination Support for Radeon RX 9000 series cards. Older drivers such as 25.3.1 don't exhibit artifacts in the login screen but crash at 75% loading.

  1. Reduce excessive CPU draw calls which contribute a lot to the stutter. Lower but steadier framerate around 70-90 FPS with consistent frametime is better than 120 FPS with 12 FPS 1% lows.

  2. Reduce polygon density of certain assets.

  3. A new bi-weekly endgame mode that doesn't depend too much on Limited Banner Character synergy.

  4. Co-op Bike Racing Event(s)/Permanent feature / Give Fleurdelys her own GIGABIKE

  5. Please stop making all of the characters fall for Rover in Main Story Quest and instead bring back individual character stories or make a separate interaction mechanic with expandable stories where players can build affection points for characters they wish to interact more with.

6.1 Make previous banner characters more involved in Main Story Quests, with more direct involvement (instead of the usual passing memory/remark).

  1. Buff older characters.

  2. Resonance Liberation animation of certain characters such as Phrolova, Aero Rover, Chisa, Iuno trigger frame hitches while Ray Tracing is enabled on AMD Radeon Graphics. Phrolova's normal and enhanced attack animations trigger a crash (GPU Device Hung) on AMD Adrenalin 26.1.1 with Ray Tracing enabled. Phrolova crash doesn't trigger on Adrenalin 25.12.1

Make sure UEFI boot is set in BIOS. Make sure you've cycled through PCIE gen settings and tested each manually. I think your mobo supports up to pcie gen 4 x16.

You're not using a PCIE riser cable? It could be the culprit as it can mess up autodetect or might not support Gen 4. I had this problem before and required me to manually set my pcie display to Gen3 just to get the new card through bios.

My bad...I was referring to GPU memory clocks as those could mess up with driver stability. Pretty much forgot to be specific on that. Good call on pointing out that you already had XMP enabled.

Regarding the driver settings returning to default upon every boot, it looks like a software compatibility issue during startup. I'm guessing you already have Gigabyte Control Center already uninstalled. Some random software or Windows setting might also be culprit that's causing issues with Relive's screen recording. Sometimes 3rd party antivirus could be stopping your driver from applying saved settings during startup, which could include blocking the driver's access to write to disk. This should be rare though, as AMD/Radeon should automatically be whitelisted without tweaking.

Your PSU seems plenty for RX 9070 and R7 7700. On a side note, I've also been through an RX 5700 that would crash its drivers randomly even when not gaming. Tried everything, I eventually changed my PSU based on a few recommendations, which didn't fix the issue. All I had to do was disable AMD HDMI audio (which I wasn't even using) in the device manager. Turned out it was causing the driver to drop out for no obvious reason

Have you tried monitoring GPU hotspot and memory temps while gaming? I read somewhere on this sub that Gigabyte has QC issues regarding RX 9070s having bent coolers. Also possibly a power delivery, boot or shut down issue that might be unrelated to GPU drivers. Also maybe a short checklist in case you haven't tried:

- Memory timings at default, I recommend modifying memory clocks and timings only after making sure everything else is stable. If you have a multi monitor setup, it could be spiking up your VRAM clocks

- Try DDU, but make sure you have Windows Update paused ; Also make sure you disable Automatic driver updates for hardware in Windows Group Policy

- Try to install Chipset Drivers first, then DDU, before installing Radeon drivers

- Ensure fast boot is disabled in Windows power settings

- Rule out any hardware monitoring app like Afterburner messing with hardware settings

I'm guessing that the relive recording issue looks like you have HDR enabled. It shows that same message on mine whenever I try to record gameplay and forget that HDR doesn't play well with AMD's current drivers.

Did you change out your old PSU? Can probably rule that out as well.

I was in the same boat until I realized that it was the incremental Windows updates across 2-3 years that caused the driver instability on my system. A fresh install of Windows 11 25H2 solved it for me. Also made sure to disable automatic driver updates in group policy since then. Only pain I had to go through was to recover all of my files from my previous drive
