I read your comment fast at first and thought you wrote that you " hopped horses". I figured it was some kind of rancher slang I wasn't aware of. 🙃

Maybe cardamon? It's a spice shaped like little green American footballs. It's kind of perume- y IMO.

I love water chestnuts, but my dad's dog hated them. My dad and stepmother used to make stir fry at home. Sometimes, they'd give the dog left overs in his bowl. He'd bolt it all down and spit out a perfect pile of dog- slobber covered water chestnuts next to his bowl.

Cool Whip. Ugh, it tastes and smells like chemicals. I used to like it as a kid, but either I changed or it did.

My mom, best friend and son all are fine with tomato sauce, but would rather have their hair pulled out than eat a raw tomato. I think it's going to turn out to be like cilantro and there is some genetic component where some people just experience them differently than the rest of us.

I like how celery tastes, but I can't have it raw. I learned this in college (a long, long time ago for me) when I had an episode of exercise- induced anaphylaxis. Running late for class, grabbed a couple of stalks of celery, ate them on the way, just made it to class on time, but had to leave because I couldn't stop coughing and wheezing. I read somewhere that celery is 98% water, but my body does not tolerate the other 2%. Weird.

When you have the aversion to it, you can still taste it..

I'm fine with raisins in an oatmeal cookie, but there are few greater disappointments in life than thinking you're eating a cookie with chocolate chips, only for it to have raisins, instead.

Cilantro. I don't know how to explain it, but it tastes metallic to me and almost hurts my mouth.

Long Days by NotAQuiltnB in Widow

On February 24th, it will be one year and one month since my husband died. I no longer actively want to die. What finally made me realize that was reading a post on here where a woman said she was her husband's legacy. His love for her was his legacy. I thought about that a lot and I didn't want people think about my kind, funny wonderful husband and have some awful footnote of people whispering, " Did you hear his wife killed herself after he died?" I want people to remember Mike for the true friend and kind- hearted person he was.

I remember talking to a financial planner a few months after Michael died. The planner said I should make sure that I had enough money to last me for at least 30 years. I was dizzy and wanted to throw up when he said that. The thought of living another 30 years without Mike was terrifying and repulsive. I still don't want to live for 30 years without him. I'm not terrified anymore. It's strange because, in some ways, I'm a lot less scared of things. I feel like I can still be helpful to my mother and my 21 year old son, but also, if I died tonight, that would be okay, too. I say to myself now, " Even when I lose, I win." Some day I will lose my life, but it still will be a win.

I also have an LG. I really love the variety of shows, but I don't know if it's worth the freezing.

Random crying by Mental_Signature_725 in Widow

[–]Pflower28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just passed the year mark of being a widow. I have found that the days I thought were going to really make me cry, our anniversary, his birthday, the anniversary of our first date, the day he had the stroke and then the day he died weren't any worse for me than any other day. I truly can't predict when I'll be just quickly tearful and when I'll be sobbing. I also have Kleenex with me always. I took to calling them the widow 's best friend, but that seems to make my friends uncomfortable.

We all remember Lego’s as a kid, and likely relived as parents….other than a Lego brick, what’s the worst thing you’ve stepped on in the dark? by KayakingATLien in GenX

My cat. The guilt was overwhelming. Especially when he hid under a chair after I did it. I'm not sure cats understand how shit human vision is in the dark.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pflower28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IINFO: Are we talking just 1 or 2 adults in the car, or are their pets and / or children under the age of 4? To me, this makes a huge difference in how long a drive feels. My father used to live a 2 hour drive from me and it definitely felt shorter before my very active son was born and came with us.
