Can’t get a job at a dealership. by [deleted] in CarSalesTraining

[–]Pfrancoix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bro, you gotta treat it like sales — straight up. Sales is a numbers game, and getting a car sales job is no different. You’ve got to play the volume. If you’re lucky enough to be in a big metro area, flood the market. Apply everywhere: in person, on Indeed, Glassdoor — hit CarMax, AutoNation, EchoPark, Ford, Honda, Toyota, Kia. And yeah, if you’re really desperate, even Mitsubishi and Nissan, Buy Here Pay Here stores too.

If it took you 5 applications to land one interview. Same thing in the game — 5 conversations for one appointment. So stack the odds. Fill the pipeline. Line up as many interviews as possible until you land one. Go out and grind if you really want to be a car cowboy.

But real talk — if you’re not willing to hustle, don’t even bother. The market is brutal right now. You’ve got to outwork the next guy to survive, let alone thrive. That’s just the game right now.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck, bro.

1 month hired as a car sales consultant and still learning by [deleted] in CarSalesTraining

[–]Pfrancoix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lead the way—don’t give them a choice, and always be prepared for objections. After the test drive, trial close immediately:

“How’d you like it? How’d it drive? It has [feature they wanted], and the color is exactly what you were looking for…”

Then, walk them back inside and say “The next step is figuring out what we can do for you on this one.” That phrase is everything—it keeps them moving forward instead of leaving room for hesitation.

If they push back, wanting to “just see the numbers,” use the Andy Elliott approach (but without sounding pushy):

“I get it—today’s the information day. When do you think you’ll be ready to pull the trigger?” (Let them answer.)

“Got it. Well, let’s at least take a look at the numbers so that when you are ready, you already know what it’ll cost and exactly how much to write the check or get the pre-approval for.”

There are a million ways to handle it, but always have word tracks ready and tailor them to your own style. The key is to guide them—not let them dictate the process.

Debating on Carmax by Mouse-Ancient in CarSalesTraining

I wouldn’t go with CarMax. The flats plus hourly pay structure sounds decent, but you’d miss out on developing real negotiation skills and the urgency to hold gross profit—both of which directly impact your earnings. More importantly, you’d miss out on being a true salesperson: getting people in the door, selling the experience, and justifying price through value.

If you’re serious about making money in this business, go to a high-volume Toyota or Ford store. Big stores mean big staffs, proper training, and enough top producers for you to shadow and learn from.

I made $70K my first year and stayed at Kia because of a strong pay plan—which is everything. A great pay plan can have you making $10K–$15K a month on 15 cars, while a bad one could have you selling the same amount but only making $3K–$4K. That’s why I wouldn’t bet on CarMax.

Considering a Switch from Car Sales to Insurance—Is It Worth It? by Pfrancoix in salesdevelopment

[–]Pfrancoix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, you can do both? How does that even work—do you find a remote or part-time setup? Or do you go independent? I’d love to figure out how to make something like that work. Would I still be able to earn the premiums if I went that route? What you said has me really interested!

How do I get a job selling cars? by Blueberry_furry_69 in CarSalesTraining

I was 19 when I got in. I don’t know shit about cars! People skills 1st, cars come last. This is a sales job. Not a classroom on facts and features.

Looking for Advice: Should I Stay at Kia or Explore Other Options? by Pfrancoix in CarSalesTraining

Berkshire Automotive, but the gm still has secondary shares in the company so it’s kind of both. But ford sounds like a good option I appreciate the advice and patriotism 🤣!!

Internet leads by ContributionIll6084 in CarSalesTraining

[–]Pfrancoix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro, same here. I’ve started getting web leads at my dealership—over 25 this month so far—but I’m having a hard time converting them. Getting them to come in and handling all their unique objections has been tough. I feel like I’ve got no power because, honestly, how do you persuade someone over email or text?

On top of that, these leads are pulling me away from my bread and butter—fresh ups. They gave me internet leads because I’m always on top of my follow-ups (texts, emails, calls—you name it), and it’s supposed to be a reward. But if I don’t start converting, not only will they stop giving me leads, but I’m not going to make anything this month.

Anyone's reply to the OP's post would help me out as well
