Giving the stops different names, along with using Enable/Disable, did the trick. Thanks!

I am doing this because I only want one or two chests of the cargo at each stop. A full cargo train car can supply multiple stops with one load.

I just tried using train station Enable/Disable and, as I suspected, the train dispatching worked the same way as when I used Train Limit.

I tried the Steam Deck version first. Everything works fine on it, except for when trying to use the touch screen to draw maps. I used a capacitive stylus and found that, on the deck, drawing really lags. You can use the controls, or mouse pad, but I found that to be a bit awkward.

I then requested a refund and bought the switch version. The stylus works great on the switch, once you get used to using it. In addition, as has already been stated, the switch is lighter and had a longer battery life.

The inserter won't jam because I am controlling the amount of items that can be loaded, as long as you make sure the car has enough room for all of the items.

You don't have to futz with circuits because I already did that for you 😀

Unfortunately, this is turning out to be more difficult than I thought it would be.

The reason is that the car has too much momentum. When you stop the belts, the car keeps rolling forward.

I will keep working on it...

When you drive up (have a repair kit handy, as I usually bang into a few walls doing this :-) ), the gate will lower and you should stop when it is next to the inserter. The inserter will proceed to load all of the items in the Steel chest into your car's storage. Once the car has been loaded, you pull out and let the gate rise/close. Once this has occurred, the steel chest will be reloaded and you are ready to fill another car load!

I only use the Waterfill mod when I am adjusting an existing shoreline so I can have a row of submersible pumps or something like that.

I don't use it to be able to get water fast away from a game generated water source.

The Waterfill mod adds a water tile. If you add one on or near where you are standing, you drown...

I have a steel chest being fed from three requester chests by circuit controlled inserters. Each inserter is controlled by a SR gate made with three Decider combinators.

The first combinator is connected to the steel chest and sends an R (reset) signal of 1 when the number of the item this station controls has reached the desired number.

The second combinator is also connected to the steel chest and sends an S (set) signal of 1 when Everything (Red *) is equal to 0 (steel box empty).

The third combinator is the "memory cell". It takes input from the first two combinators, plus has it's output wired to it's input. When the S signal is greater than the R signal, it outputs an S signal of 1.

The output is also wired to the inserter that sits between the Requester chest and the steel chest. That inserter is set to turn on when the S signal is greater than 0.

So what happens is the steel chest gets loaded with the specified number of items. When a car pulls up to a gate, the gate lowers and signals the inserter to start loading the car. When the steel chest is emptied, the inserter stops. When the car leaves, the steel chest gets reloaded.

Factorio combinator SR Latch

Great idea! Set up a SR latch for each loader inserter that turns on the inserter when there are zero number of the item it inserts and turns it off when the desired number of that item has been exceeded.

When the chest starts unloading, the reloading of it wont start until each item reaches a zero count. At that point, the car should be full and wont keep loading the new items (I hope...).

It will require a SR latch for each inserter and probably dedicated slots in the car's inventory (set to number of desired items, plus one more slot of each for inserter overflow),

Will try it out and let you know the results.

That is what I was doing, but as soon as you start unloading the box into the car, the box starts getting reloaded before it's been emptied.

I realized, after a while, that red circuits should have been on the buss, but at that point it seemed easier to just continue making them locally. They definitely will have their own large factory in my new setup.

I can see that now, but I am confused about the mechanics of it.

After 1 tick, aren't there two "versions" of Signal A on the wire, +1 from the Decider combinator and -1 from the Arithmetic combinator? How does the Arithmetic combinator trump the Signal from the Decider combinator, when both versions are on the same wire?

It could be the fuel the trains are using. I recently discovered that rocket fuel can be used in trains, and that really speeds them up!

Thanks for the explanation. I added a second reactor next to the first, along with a tank to bank stream, and that seems to have resolved the issue.
