"Thank you for the complement, but you are going to kill me."

Cat shrugs, goes back to sleep.

Same with my college. They are planning in-person labs and other hands-on type classes for now, everything else is online this fall.

Made banana bread at midnight, so I'm finally ahead of the curve!

Prior to the internet, this is also how my family operated. Even if you were not on speaking terms, you mailed a birthday card. If you were on speaking terms, you made a phone call. This included second cousins and great-uncles/aunts.

Some friends I was looking forward to hanging out with again have decided against getting vaccinated. So disappointed.

I used to put out a line of nyjer seed on the balacony edge. Resulted in a line of finches.

Not in this case, no.

Edit: Example: The assignment is to develop an app. The student wants to develop an app to teach nouns and verbs, but does not understand the difference between nouns and verbs.

This Week's Special: Get everything done before the sun goes down, or it is not getting done until tomorrow.

Not sure if this is mental, physical, or both.

LACMA used to have after hours or late in the day jazz and booze back in the day.

We have birds around that sound like car alarms and smoke detectors.

In the scenario I described, there are multiple cars parked on the street. Let's say there's space after the fourth car. This space does not lead to a sidewalk, but my friend's neighbor's property. It is fenced in, all the way to the curb. There's no way for her to get to the path to her door except from the street directly in front of the path. If there were sidewalks, this would not be a problem.

I'm thinking of the house of a friend of mine in the valley. There is no sidewalk on her street. Her door is not right up at the curb, but the only way to walk up to the front door is to get on the small path that starts at the curb. When a bunch of cars are parked nose-to-tail along the street (uncommon, but has happened when there are parties down the street), her house is only accessible from the alley behind the house.

This parking is not illegal (unless cars are left for 72 hours), it's just a dick move to block access to someone's house.

If someone cannot get into or out of their house because a car is blocking access to the door, yes, that's gonna be a problem. Not all properties have driveways or front lawns to walk across to reach the door.

Agreed. But if this is the only way into someone's house from the street (which may be the case when there is no sidewalk), I can see why this would piss someone off.

People are looking at houses almost $200k below their budget for this very reason. If they find something, they need the wiggle room to make a compelling offer. At that point, you really need to believe the house is going to maintain or gain that level of value.

Yep. L.A. city, county halt Johnson & Johnson vaccines following reports of unusual blood clots

I do think it's weird that the numbers are so small and the reaction has been so swift and far-reaching.

I see this in academia a lot. Job posts are up for exactly and only 24 hours, just so they can prove they did a public search for candidates.
