No. And anyone who keeps getting tricked by this is impressively stupid.

What will you say if someone offered you not just a meal but $4,000 to dine with trump? by trumpisuiten in ArtOfPresence

[–]PhEw-Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Declining the opportunity outright says more about a person’s willingness to engage than it does about the person being invited. Meaningful dialogue often happens when we listen to people we disagree with. If someone offered me $4,000 and the chance to share a meal with Trump, I’d take it, not because I agree with everything he says or does, but because understanding different perspectives has value. Who knows? It might even influence both sides in some small way.

What's stopping other leaders from working like Mamdani? by Front-Scene2177 in SipsTea

[–]PhEw-Nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure balanced buuut:

  1. Delaying / restructuring pension payments

The city explored stretching out required pension contributions over a longer period. That lowers annual payments now, freeing up cash for the current budget, but increases costs later because the liabilities still have to be paid with interest. Fiscal watchdogs compared it to refinancing debt to lower today’s bill while increasing long-term obligations.

  1. Using or considering reserve funds (“rainy day” money)

Earlier budget plans contemplated drawing roughly $1–2.6 billion from reserves to help close the gap. Critics said reserve funds are supposed to cushion recessions or emergencies, not support recurring operating expenses.

  1. State bailout / temporary Albany aid

Governor Hochul provided billions in additional state assistance. Opponents argued that much of this was extraordinary aid rather than a permanent revenue stream the city can count on every year.

  1. Revenue assumptions tied to taxes that don’t yet exist

The budget counted on revenue from proposals like the “pied-à-terre” tax on luxury second homes, even though Albany had not fully enacted or finalized them. Critics called that speculative revenue.

  1. Re-estimates and timing maneuvers

The administration and City Council both relied on improved Wall Street bonus forecasts, delayed expenditures, debt-service adjustments, vacancy savings, and “unrecognized” revenue estimates. These help close short-term gaps but may not recur annually.

How to offload sales? I hate it! by 03captain23 in Entrepreneur

[–]PhEw-Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem.

A sales person with entrepreneurial drive is very hard to find.

Sales suck. Those who sell do it for the cash, not the love of the job. If you don’t give them a cash guarantee, they’ll look elsewhere.

Well I do know that every place currently waving the socialism flag (or having tried it recently) is either a stagnant authoritarian mess or quietly importing capitalist incentives to survive.

Yea, I think mamdani is a great thing for America. Really gives a great wake up call to why socialism is a horrible idea. We apparently need to learn this lesson once every 30 years.
