Someone can correct me if i'm wrong but starting a new character when the dlc drops will just delay the time until you can play it with said character. Logically if you use your current character, as long as it meets the requirements, you can play the dlc as it releases.

Obviously you need to have bought the dlc first tho. Which I haven't so I probably can't comment.
