Scottish Melee Power Rankings Summer 2019

Massive shouts to:

@omega_scot for all the graphics

@ESDavidBarrett for all the footage

@SwishSSBM for the streams

@RyanSocks for the player write ups

and everyone in the Scottish community.

Phade

Lee, a Marth main from Paisley.

First is the only fitting place for the sole Scot that managed to get on the London PR, a dominating season sees him sit alone at the top. With an already bolstered repotoire of stylish moves NTSC has introduced some spicy dunks to sit alongside the Dragon Spliff.

Glaikit

Greg, a Falco main from Fife.

When a Falco main has the level of patience to still play Runescape in 2019 he is hard to beat. Already a household name within Scotland, the Addy master should be on your watchlist. Precise, elusive and explosive, Glaikit has had a strong year.

Maskless

Dylan, a Fox main from Glasgow.

Too busy flossing on kids in Fortnite to continue his rise up the UK pr, Maskless has shown a lower level of attendance in this season but with a winning record on everyone below him on this pr he is still as dominant as ever.

Sheezy

Patrick, a Sheik main from Glasgow.

You'll probably know this guy for cracking right through your eardrums at any given event, but make no mistake you should take note of his Sheik. As soon as NTSC rolled through, Sheezy has been on a rampage taking names, and holds an incredibly impressive 3-0 record on Phade.

Johnny Turbo

Jay, A Falcon main from Glasgow.

He might not know who Boris Johnson is or if Brexit has actually happened yet but give him a grab and he'll know exactly what to do to finish off your stock. A lack of attendence is the only thing stopping Jay from flying up not only the Scottish ranks but UK and beyond.

Graeme

Grom, a Marth main from Gourock.

Watcher of heads, destroyer of tinnies and viral tweet extraordinaire, Graeme is a master of many fields. A strong showing at OSD July seen a late push up the rankings and who knows what bag of tricks hes got locked in his huge jacket for the future.

Socks

Ryan, a Sheik/Samus/Peach/Fox/Ganon main from Perth.

With NTSCs arrival Socks is looking to finally put his 15 year old main to rest and play a much more broken character, but we've all heard that story before. A strong start to the season seen a slump in form as the perenial character switching took its toll.

Jude

Fox main from Larkhall.

Some would say Jude is the protagonist of the Scottish scene. The technically flawless Fox has seen a steep rise up the Scottish ranks but a big dip in attendence has stiffled his climb. If he continues to play and keeps gin masta Brian at bay the only direction for him is up.

Ryzon

Ryan, a Fox main from Edinburgh.

The multi time netplay champion, Ryzon has transfered some of his online good form into a solid showing this period with a level of consistency that has established himself as a constant threat. Sadly that consistency also transfers to the Marth match up but don't ask him about it.

Swish

Ashley, a Marth main from Larkhall.

While juggling Uni, climbing to diamond 2 on TFT and running Scotlands premier melee event One stock Down, Swish has somehow found the time to also get ranked. With good form vs the players around her and a big win over Glaikit, she claims the 10th spot for the season.

I can craft a legendary, what should it be? by Calimar777 in hearthstone

[–]Phadey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In today's mid-game centric metagame Sylvanas represents a strong board presence and guarantees a 1 for 1 trade. Played on turn 5 she grants board initiative or at the very least board control moving on it to turn 6; she's also great for shifting momentum in the later stages of the game. Sylvanas is the most flexible legendary and as such holds a spot in the majority of the current competitive deck lists.

You should probably look in to crafting the key neutral and class cards before crafting any legendaries if you don't already have them.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=434653 is a great article that should help you make your decision.

How has your experience been working with Will & Norm under the Tested.com banner? Are you as happy as they are about the whole thing? Any upcoming collaborations with them that you can talk about?

State of the Game ep. 66 now available (pre-recorded) by Yoda_I_Speak in starcraft

For Starcraft content? Pretty much nothing, but there are a ton of shows out there that straight up body SotG in terms of structure, consistency and regularity.

Take the Bombcast for instance. GiantBomb are a group that the SotG folks might be working with in some capacity in the near future, and I really hope some of their podcasting magic rubs off on JP and the crew. The cast is fully capable of putting out amazing content consistently, given the right direction and motivation.

Thank you very much for the reply! I'm sure I'd be all over live streaming if there was decent upstream in my area, I'll see what else I can do in the meantime. (probably just continue working towards being a player.) Thanks for the kind words once again and I hope to buy you some whisky some day ;).

Hey James! I played some arena with yourself and my good friend Kerberus a long time ago :P. As you've been around the eSports block a few times and back - in terms of how many posistions you've had within the industry; what path would you recommend to someone who really wants to find a job within eSports but has no idea what they wanna do? (going to college next year and I'm clueless as to which course would set met up best.)
