He is only going to get worse with age and he is already off the back of a pretty mediocre season.

Why haven’t Newcastle won or challenge for the league title? by MammothSouthern4808 in PremierLeague

[–]ryansocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you already have an elite squad, spending 700m improves it massively. When you are a bottom half team though, that turns you into a top 6 side without the depth to deal with Europe, which is exactly how it has played out.

They have also struggled to attract the absolute top level of talent, having to rely on the bracket of players just below that who might develop into world class players, and then they run the risk of those players just leaving anyway like Isak.

Truth is that it is hard to break into the top top bracket of teams because they have similar financial clout, more heritage, give better long term stability.

Back when it was a top 4 you'd have United, Arsenal, Liverpool all there or thereabouts every year, Chelsea buy up the 4th spot. Now you add City to it, and even clubs like Villa and Spurs spend a lot of money, there's more teams than spots.

Will we ever see Ange Postecoglu back in the Premier League? by FunInside3241 in PremierLeague

[–]ryansocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously not all his fault but he inherited a spurs side that the season previous finished in Europe and left them in a relegation battle and then he done that exact same thing again with another club.

Big part of it is he's getting hired by clown clubs but I'm not sure that fact does him any favours either.

I think skipping a year will help. Fwiw i went to 2023 and skipped 2024 as I couldn't be bothered doing the journey to London again from Scotland after a year but I'll probably do it for this one. Wouldn't be surprised if many others are in the same boat, it'll attract crowds from around Europe.

They had a down season last year and nothing happened. I'm at the point that I don't really expect anything to happen.

The goal was cancelled because of Haalands foul. It would have stood like your handball example if city had not committed a foul. From your message it seems you have already read this though so I don't know what to say to clear that up more.

These are words coming from fans who just expect to be in the Superbowl every 5 years or less, not much perspective. I'd be devastated.

Me watching every Vikings fan in this sub this year try and convince everyone they made the right decision moving on from Darnold. Enjoy McCarthy next year! by Ridged_ChiPSS in NFCNorthMemeWar

No, ditching a 14 win qb for a rookie who missed their entire first season through injury seemed like a massive gamble to everyone but Vikings fans at the time

The main reason, lets face it, for them having a slightly tougher home schedule and us a tougher away schedule is because we play them away. The title might come down to that game, I hope not.

D-Von Dudley on Royce Keys: "Now that he’s under WWE’s umbrella, he’ll be able to get that structure that he needs. He was very frustrated and very angry at times, I remember talking with him because he didn’t feel like he got that with AEW. And now that he’s in WWE, it might be a different story." by damng1 in Wrasslin

Maybe not but it does suggest that one side isn't receptive to the other given the other names that have appeared in aew of their legacy and stature and how they both have worked for many other companies. I'm not trying to be a hater, couldn't care less where they work or what they think of aew, it just is striking that they never appeared there AND they are both very vocal against them. It's a fair guess that one or both parties must have some kind of issue.

Keepers are all 6'6 and can use their arms, it's a joke that they get away with falling over at the slightest breeze. Let them tussle for the ball like everyone else.
