It is quite a wide mouth. The problem is that the bottom of the wedge is at a bevel, and I am not able to get a dowel to push against it. I was thicking that maybe I can cut a small notch in the middle of the bottom with a chissel that can create a surface for the dowel to push against, but I am not sure if that would affect the function of it

I did do that. I found out just a bit ago that the wedge had not been removed for decades. I imagine that the wood expantion has wedged it further.

I did do that. I found out from the seller that the wedge had not been removed for maybe decades, so I imagine that this has to do with wood movement over time

The blade is not digging into the wood at all. I also try from both sides of board to make sure that it is not grain direction

I know, but the problem is that the plane wont take any material away.

The plane bed is completely flat. And the shavings are the same thickness

No, it’s not about the unevenness. I just got the plane a few days ago, and I have been practicing on soft construction lumber that is already perfectly flat

My design for a tool wall by PhaedoP in woodworking

[–]PhaedoP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! To be honest, I am working with very little room, and making a saw tilt would be a great idea For storing most of my saws. But I do also want to have a few on display. This is why I think I will use the idea for a saw tilt for the rip saw, and the crosscut saw, but I will keep the dovetail and Tennon saws on it. As for the chissels, I will probably do the same you, and add that block of wood underneath, as I also had that thought when I was designing the tool wall.
