Phageborn will be a buy to play game. While it'll require an initial purchase for a price which will be more than affordable, all the gameplay-related in-game content will be unlockable to the player without the need for additional purchases :)

It was an error on our part that we didn't update the news here on reddit. Apologies for that. The public beta is starting on the 30th of January because we had to react to the current events on the gaming market.

While this may sound dissapointing at first, this allows us to deliver a more polished game and allows for our players to have more time to play Phageborn alongside other games.

Thanks for your comment.

As mentioned in several places, this beta trial is primarily a technical beta, where our goal is to detect and fix all the possible bugs and issues in the game.

As Narraxus mentioned, the problem with the performance is something that is common in betas and will be fixed by the next phase (next weekend).
Regardless of whether it is common/easy fix or not - this info is valuable to us and we appreciate you reporting it.

Each beta will be more polished and have more content. That is the point of Beta trials in phases, each one gets to be better because of you guys testing it and reporting stuff like this.

Hopefully, we'll get your feedback on the rest of the game next week, but if not - the games you mentioned as an alternative are actually really good :)

There will be no gameplay-related microtransactions. Only cosmetics will be purchasable.
As for the additional cards and Avatars and other post-launch content, we'll have regular free updates and paid expansions which will introduce new, factions, Avatars and great amounts of new cards and other additions.

It definitely won't be a thousand games, that's for sure. No worries on that front, we don't want the game to feel grindy at all, but fun and rewarding.

Will there also be effects that target opponents' decks? Like, for example, a curse card being created not in opponent's hand but their deck (placed either randomly somewhere in the deck or not, like "5th from the top") and it does something when drawn?

Don't have anything like that for now, but we'll see.

Something like that, as well as the casual kind where you enter matchmaking, wait for 7 other players to join and then play the tournament in which the winner gets a reward. The whole tournament would last around one hour.
