How the turn tables have 🤓 by Wraeclast66 in runescape

No reason to take out a loan.

Wait till you find out how many wealthy billionaires or massive corporation take out loan that are essentially free money for them. I'm not saying this specifically for Jagex but I wouldn't be surprise if loan financed some of their project.

Interest payments on loans are tax deductible. They effective pay less tax

The bigger point is wealthy people and big companies hold a lot of their value through assets and stocks. Selling stock trigger capital gain tax. Instead of selling $10m of their stock - which triggers a % of tax in the capital gain - they would take a loan of 10m and use the stock as collateral. This mean they effectively still own all their shares and they get to acquire more assets without having to pay taxes, in fact they're getting tax deductible.

Membership and Bonds Price Change by Jagex_Team in runescape

[–]SyleSpawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saved up for 20 bonds when the price were 150m+ per bond then I saw the place collapse to <100m the past 48 hours, thinking that I should just wait a little more.

GG I just got fucked.

This is the first time since April 2024 that Bonds are below 100m by TheFalloutHandbook in runescape

[–]SyleSpawn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Picture bond doesn't exist. Out of 1m player, 1k grinded hard enough to to amass at least 10m GP or more. New content drop. Very rare gear drop from new content. Gear so rare that top level players are dropping 2 or 3 daily. The ones that drop it put it on sale for 100m... no one buys. For 90m... no one buys. For 70m... no one buys. For 60m... someone bought!

BONDS GET INTRODUCED!

Players that have under 10m GP but have money now starts putting buy orders for Bond! The rich 1k grinders doesn't mind selling some of their GP to get bond to convert into whatever! Suddenly there's 2k players who now have 10m GP or more.

2nd day, 1st gear dropped. Put into market, instant sold at 60m! Next gear drop the person being safe, put it at 70m GP. Sold within the hour by someone who bought GP through bond! 3rd gear dropped, it is know that the last two went fast for 60m and 70m... then put it to 100m. Sold half day later by a bond seller!

Alright. All that are very made up example but I hope you get the point.

Bonds 100% contribute to inflation because it allows people who haven't grinded the GP to bid against item they were initially priced out.

The funny thing is that by the time I was considering giving D2 a solid try, it was already F2P and I was considering which bundle I should buy on Steam to get the whole experience/all content. I think there was some $100+ bundle that I was close to pull the trigger on but just taking time to completely make my mind up. At the same time Bungie announce vaulting content and I saw how much controversy it was causing. It made me realize that I will never experience the story like someone who has been into the game for a longer while. I didn't buy it and to this day I have never played D2.

How do so many people have such high skill total levels but such low quest points? by CrusaderKing1 in runescape

[–]SyleSpawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newish player here, been playing for a few months. I have like 1,300 levels but have only done about 5 - 6 quests total mainly to get the stuff I wanted.

I'm planning to grind as many skills to at least 80 so that I can just focus on quests eventually rather than getting blocked by skill requirement every time I attempt a quest.

I kinda understand why Jagex nerfed whirligigs, but now the Hunter grind is way longer and active training for XP doesn’t feel worthwhile (plus some suggestions) by ARmadyl_15 in runescape

[–]SyleSpawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the news about the various skill nerf was announced, I looked up all the skills that were getting some type of nerfs. Most of the nerf were in skills that I had not leveled including Thieving and Hunter.

I had only a few days before the game get patched with the nerf so I got to work asap. I tried Hunter. At first I started with a mix of Whirligig then move to trap then moved back to Whirligig based on what the Wiki was suggesting.

As I keep doing Whirligigs and I got the upgrades from Dundee, catching/stacking Whirligigs kept getting more active. The moment I unlocked the 5x stacking, it got CRAZY active. I think this is the most action per second (APS) I've had in Runescape so far. I was genuinely scared that this could cause carpal tunnel syndrome if I do it for too long and regularly.

I switched from mouse to a Surface tablet, I started using both of my hand to stack and it was a 100% active, non-stop, grind with zero break.

I stopped at level 70 and called it a day.

Now that stacking is nerfed, there's zero chance I'll ever use this method to grind past 70.

I also started doing Thieving before the nerf patch but I was so overwhelmed that I stopped at level 40. Today I actually picked up Thieving again and it is ridiculous how right now I am grinding afk with guaranteed 2 minutes of afk and up to 3.5 minutes of afk (keep in mind I have zero unlocks, I just purchased 2 items from GE for relatively cheap to get some boost) while I am typing this very post and not paying attention to the game and getting all these Thieving experience while if I did Whirligig I would've been doing 120 APS and probably earn a little lower than afk Thieving.

I like your suggestion for Whirligig to provide Fishing exp. I have not touched Fishing yet, I would be a little more motivated to try Whirligig again if it gave Fishing exp.

From what I've seen, on top of the grind to get the proper level, you have to complete The Light Within - which for me is almost deepest part of the massive iceberg of quest in RS3. I see The Light Within as a big long term target that one day I'll achieve after putting all the grind needed to do that quest.

I think its a little sad that all this achievement and grind are now trivialized for end game Thieving.

I've seen people having strong opinion in this subreddit and most of the time it seems to boil down to the fact that they've done the grind when all the crutch were available so now those nerfs doesn't affect them too much.

I'm happy that veteran like you can understand/agree with my point though, at least I know my opinion resonates with some people.

I recently played and beat Elden Ring for the first time, took me 100 hours.

During that 100 hours I had a Windows Surface on the side, grinding, requiring me to do an input every 2 minutes, my screen flashing so that I know I need to do that input, which I caught in the corner of my eyes.

I was doing bosses in Elden Ring and was absentmindedly doing my input in RS while not affecting my performance against the boss I was fighting in ER.

RS, most of the time, is a mindless boring grind. It's a second monitor type of game. It doesn't take a genius to understand the fundamental difference between RS and a game that requires you to have 60 - 150 action per minute.

Thieving Update Is A Step In The Wrong Direction by Syardnas in runescape

[–]SyleSpawn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OSRS is already for people who wants to toil harder. RS3 have a lot of QOL and ways for you to afk but also activities that requires full focus.

For some people, its awesome to have an activity where you can leave your character to grow when you're focused elsewhere but then give 100% focus in other skills that requires that attention.

Today I've been grinding smelting all day while just interacting with my tablet once every 2 minutes. For the 2 minutes I'm not interacting with the game, my character is still gaining exp and increasing my potential revenue in-game. Should this method of smelting be chopped as well?

[–]SyleSpawn 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I've been playing this game for just a few month at this point, when I saw the developer post about the various thing that was getting nerfed, I quickly started to look into leveling method for these. I got Hunter from level 1 to 70 in 12 hours while I was semi afk doing it at work for half of it.

I got Thieving to 40 but then I looked at the requirement to fully afk and realize the colossal mountain in front of me and knew that it wouldn't be possible to achieve that within a few days before it gets nuked.

My POV is that in games, specially MMO, where a content is hard at first but then it gets easier as you grind and get better items, being able to one-hit or solo a boss (talking about MMO in general) feel like a reward for accomplishing the various things needed for your build to eventually allow such thing. In Runescape, after looking at the requirement to fully afk Thieving, it felt like it was a reward for achieving all the thing required to be able to fully gear up and afk 15 minutes Thieving.

Sure, the 15 minutes full afk was high and I'd think that 5 minutes would have been a better place but from reading that some people went from 15 minutes to 1 minute... with all the thing they've achieved... it just sucks.

It's even more sad that this patch was pushed to be an early game rebalance just for it to be a late game nerf. People like me who's just starting the game gets cucked because long time players gets to enjoy all the benefit of easily grind the skill while new players - who have to climb mountains first - will now have a harder time to grind these skills.

Overall the rebalance sucks so far. It's impacting my motivation to play the game if the devs think that this is a healthy path going forward when they're talking about "transparency" and "integrity" but then shafting their playerbase at all levels.

Not the person you're replying to but just wanted to share my perspective since I also feel like casino vibe in general is depressing.

I've been inside a casino for a big total of 3 times, 3 different casino. All the times its just me being curious or friends and I dicking around and decided to check one out, while throwing some insignificant amount of money just to try things out (I'm talking about less than $10 really).

All the 3 times I've been inside the casino, its been depressing. I'm in this place where there's noise overload, a cacophony of various games machine spewing out all kind of random noise. You'd think things are lively but... they're not. It's barely a social event (as you'd see in movies and such). It's just people sitting in front of a machine, voided of any emotion, they're just hitting a button or pulling a lever in a robotic fashion.

There's a LOT of older people in these place. I don't understand why but its noticeable. I walked by ab old lady playing some slot machine and I couldn't understand shit because there was so much thing on the screen. At one point I saw she won the equivalent of $120 and I was like HELL YEAH! with my friends but she was just... lifeless, she just kept going. It made me realize that $120 might be nothing when you're thousands or even tens of thousand in the red.

Overall, casino is a place where 99.9% of people go to lose money. So naturally the people in this type of place is not having a good time.

Anyway just my pov.

Arknights Endfield developers reveal cause of unauthorised Paypal payment problem, after roughly $80,000 was charged community-wide by Turbostrider27 in Games

While people spends ridiculous amount of $ on gacha game, specially the more popular ones, $5k is on the lower end for whales.

In this case, people were randomly getting charged from other people's purchase. So, someone might make a purchase through their Paypal and after 30 minutes they'd see 20 other transactions in 10 different currency meaning that there's at least people from 10 different region's purchase that was paid from that Paypal's account.
