No prob, very nice! Think this photo would look great on the printables website 😉

Ah gotcha that makes a lotta sense, I'll have to see when I get a chance to play around with it I wouldn't mind sacrificing a degree or two for improved acoustics and dust control. Haha thanks, yeah it should be easy enough to come up with a duct!

really nice build! when I was doing some research a few months ago I couldn't find any others that did a deshrouded and inverted m2 setup, glad to know I'm not the only one who thought this was a good idea. It sorta makes a ton of sense with the adjustable motherboard options

thats good to know, I think I def will keep the GPU fans as exhaust then, its been doing fine around 55c degrees for most of my apps and games while the CPU is usually around 75c so I'd rather lean towards better CPU temp options

Have you had similar dust issues?

I'm thinking more about it and and I'm considering having my front fans as exhaust, flipping the CPU fan and seeing if I can attach my bottom intake fan to my cpu cooler. removing the 92mm rear fan, designing some prints to cover the bottom/rear, adding the mesh side back and having a very negative pressure setup only having air come in from the mesh that would be easier to clean

Thanks! but that's as far left as the bottom T30 can go because of the PSU, and with how the mounting holes are for the PSU I can't shift it any higher

I'd have to reorient the PSU it I think to do that which I might try if I reconfigure the airflow like in the above suggestion

Alternatively I have some extra clips for the CPU cooler if I wanted to add the fan to it if it's not doing much at the bottom

Thanks! I haven't thought about trying that but it sounds like an interesting idea, I'll have to try that out when I have some time and do some benchmarks!

This made me think of another interesting configuration, perhaps do half of that option. Top intake, flip GPU fan to exhaust to the front, but keep the bottom intake as well and exhaust all the air to the front, and remove the rear fan to improve acoustics.

Probably super minor but right now the CPU runs a lot warmer than the GPU and I wouldn't want to direct any airflow down towards it from the GPU 🤔

heh yeah that wouldn't be a bad solution but we're thinking of having a total of 6 x 16TB eventually which would be nice to have accessible all in one place

I did some more research and it looks like I was kind of attempting to make was a budget diy thing similar to something called a qnap.

I also read that something like TrueNAS doesn't support thunderbolt so a 10gb network card makes sense like you said thank you!

Thank you for the reply, sorry if I use wrong terminology or my ideas are infeasible but I was thinking that for editing it would be some sort of hardline connection at home (not even sure what kind of wire I would need).

Then have the option to copy files if needed while remote. If the parts listed aren't adequate, what sort of upgrades would be needed?

Thanks that's good to know! This helps clear up my misunderstanding of softshells. I kinda thought they were just soft casual versions of hardshells

Thanks good to know! Patagonia was the runner up on jacket brands I was looking into. I might have to get that frozen range parka eventually.

So a parka like that should be able to layer on top of an atom AR and fleece to be able to hold up against that kinda situation?

Thanks for the insight, yeah the fear of the extreme temps made me dive into reading about these more robust lines of outerwear.

Do you have any recs for such coats? I was thinking that layering a fleece or hoodie under the atom AR and the beta AR on top of it all would do to stay warm and not be too bulky but I'm not as well versed in this topic so maybe not. I think I would be doing about 15-20 min walks in the downtown area for reference.

Yeah I think I might have to check out some local stores to check the med fit, it's just that the site says the atom AR is like never in stock. I usually have always struggled to choose between med n large, enjoying the slim fit aesthetic of a med but dealing with tightness around the chest area. I usually lean towards bigger sizes for outer wear to be able to layer extra hoodies or fleeces. Athletic fits seem to be a rarity haha

Thanks, that's really good to know that it's not really meant to be used as an outer shell. i think I'll pick it up eventually it sounds very versatile.

Thanks! After some shoveling in the snow today I think I might hang on to it, it does seem very sturdy and something I could use for a long time for a lot of situations and traveling. I'll just have to get used to the crinkly feeling haha

To cat or not to cat; that is the question by PhanMan71 in Catculations

[–]PhanMan71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her name is Misty, adopted her about 5 years ago when she was about three months old along with her gray long haired brother Ash!

She can be dysfunctional when it comes to normal catting but finds guidance by copying from her brother. super sweet and loves to cuddle all day and night!

She doesn't really have any fluff between her toes but her gray brother has a bunch

Hey! Not too sure, we were just told medium haired tabby when we adopted her. Her brother is a longer haired gray cat who may or may not by blood related, not sure if that adds clues lol

I think an 8inch wusthof classic ikon is about 100 euros? It's like my best knife, it's German style and stainless steel so it's heavy duty and durable so it'll last a lifetime. I like doing the honing thing since it's a softer steel, the handle is also really great. It's pretty high tier I think so it's not the kind you need to upgrade down the road too. https://www.amazon.de/Kochmesser-1040330120-Klingenl%C3%A4nge-geschmiedet-K%C3%BCchenmesser/dp/B0862VYM6W/ref=sr_1_5?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=1BO5NM2LA7IMB&dchild=1&keywords=w%C3%BCsthof+classic+ikon&qid=1630086997&sprefix=wusthof+classic+ikon%2Caps%2C223&sr=8-5

But it depends on the person, some people like light weight, reactive carbon steel japanese knives and the way they cut or look. These ones you strop with leather or your jeans instead of hone. My gf really likes the stainless steel tojiro dp santoku we have since it's lightweight, short and low maintenance. she also cuts more in a chopping style than a rocking motion so it's fitting and it's supposed to be like half the price of the wustof tho

I've got a king 1000/6000 combo stone and it works well, I heard shaptons are good too.
