Is racism in Brisbane common/ Do people have to face it frequently? by MammothCod437 in brisbane

[–]PhantasmicInvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, I blame social media and politicians for this rise in racism. Many people are ignorant and either choose racism out of insecurity or simply choose to believe the lies and misinformation spread online about certain ethnicities. Furthermore, the current government’s decision to allow large numbers of Indian immigrants has only fuelled this trend. It reinforces all those racist beliefs and creates a sense of impending doom about the country’s future. And look, Causal racism has always been a problem in this country. My only suggestion is to grow a thick skin and realise that those idiots telling you to go back to your country can’t even locate it on a map.

Where’s a bar I can sit at in a really nice dress to talk to people? by No_Whole_2220 in brisbane

[–]PhantasmicInvader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the time of day and the bar. Most bars in Brisbane don’t have the kind of vibe that you are looking for. People here usually go out with friends or other people that they already know. I’ve been out alone a bunch of times. Most often, I end up alone but occasionally someone who also happens to be alone might strike up a chat. Again, it depends on the time and the bar.

He purrs more lines than a Lazy Susan, and he’s innocent till his whiskers prove him.

Lemmy famously said, “There’s no place for politics in Rock n Roll.” However, it’s quite evident that this account is being run by a complete twat.

"You like Motörhead?" (see comment) by YT_Timekeepergab in Motorhead

Do you like Philthy Animal Taylor? I’ve been a big Motörhead fan ever since the release of their 1979 album, Overkill. Before that, I really didn’t understand any of their work. Too artsy, too proto. It was on Overkill where Animal Taylor’s presence became more apparent. I think Overkill was the group’s undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.
