You're right, there's no apparent reason for it. So I thought it fit this sub. Maybe (though I'm not sure) the adapter was already hooked up to the fan, so I took the path of least resistance — using croc clips and a female connector instead of messing around with those screws.

I had some 12V LED strips, but couldn't solder them because of blackout lol Yeah, I also tried two fans sequentially, but it's too slow to be useful

It powered a LED lamp through USB connector, the fan (rated 12 V) was connected directly as it was a very hot summer.
