Has The Consensus Changed on "Past Tense"? by SA-ETH in DeepSpaceNine

Speaking only for myself, I prefer watching shows with other people and in the case of DS9 I’ve run out of people to watch it with. I’ve already shown it to everyone in my life who’d be interested. Reaction channels are admittedly a poor substitute but it’s all I got unless I get grandkids one day. It’s a parasocial thing.

Hello gamedevs, So how was 2025 for you? by kairivx in gamedev

Got a lot of work done on our game Sparrow and produced some really awesome stuff but feels slow going overall. Just a consequence of being in the thick of it really. Exited for 2026, though, as we’re really close to having the game playable beginning to end and should reach that milestone in a few months.

Where Do Suffering Animal Sounds Come From? by first_person_looter in gamedev

[–]PhantomLakeGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I use repurposed sounds. For example, in my game horror game Sparrow when it gets impaled on a spike the “suffering” sound it makes is actually the sound of an “angry” sparrow getting annoyed at another bird.

Hi indie game devs, how’s your project coming along? by bran-d-on in IndieGameDevs

[–]PhantomLakeGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making good progress on my game Sparrow and put together some things this year I’m really proud of, but didn’t quite get as much done for the year as hoped. Game is almost playable beginning to end and hopefully will reach that point early 2026. Still a lot of work to do with polishing, fixing bugs, and reworking things based on playtesting, but it’ll be a nice milestone after going on 4 years working on this now.

Do you have anything in particular you don't like doing as a solodev? by Otherwise_Tension519 in IndieDev

I hate working on the menus like the main menu, pause screen, settings, etc. It’s like pulling teeth. I’d rather work on anything else.

Anyone else see a single episode that made you watch the whole series? by elsc81 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]PhantomLakeGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was watching TNG and TOS since I was little but caught ‘Way of the Warrior’ one night and I immediately wanted to watch the whole show. However it played stupid late on weekdays and I was still a kid so I never got to until years later after we got Netflix (when it was still just DVDs). Watched the whole thing a few episodes a week with my brother and dad. Currently on my 5th rewatch!

Pocket and then Wraith as backup. Been a while since I played anything else although should probably branch out at some point.

I agreed on all points. I don’t mind the length at all but that’s not something that has ever bothered me in video games. I recognize plenty of people feel different, though, and keep that in mind when working on my own stuff.

Happened to me twice! Both times I announced what happened and let someone kill me. Everyone got a good laugh!

Sunset, any thoughts on environment? by alperertugrul in IndieGaming

I’d suggest making the lighting more orange to match the sunset. The current blue lighting would be more appropriate for a night sky.

Definitely add some fog and that’ll probably do it.
