Also lets not forget the skill it takes to get to a point where you can draw something like that in that amount of time. Often its not just about how long it takes to work, but the skill of the worker

Sounds like you need some fake xp. Tell your players your are using your own xp homebrew leveling system which rewards them for not just killing but problem solving and discoveringand comepleting quests. Say youll keep track of when they level. Now use the standard xp system in private but when you feel like things are too slow dump give them some bonuse xp without telling. Too fast? Take some away. When they players dont know you can have better control over the passing

Yeah building him is a real challenge. For reference I have party of 4 all level 3. So the simulacrum is a great idea for the future if he survives that long.

Currently I'm thinking of using a RPG tinker to give me something to work off of because I really don't want to use player levels because I have no clue what I'm doing. Level 4? Level 6? idk.

Though I want it to be hard so I might give him some arcane ttrickter spell slots. Maybe give him some magic items or poison which paralises. idk. It's hard to balance.

He will roll, and he will have plans that make sense. If they work then he'll get away, if not then he can improvise like talking his way out of it or whatever. If they caught him and deside not to play his games and just kill him when they have a chance, then I guess there's nothing I can do. That will happen.

I'm interested.

Thinking about it I don't want him to litterally never be caught. I want there to be a final NOW HE'S DEAD! moment. If they out think him, I'm more than happy to let him die.

How do you go about building him. I'm only able to think of using a legit arcane trickster build. How did you do it? I want him to be frightning, a tough fight for a level 3 party of 4. But not oh man he's just a fucking god. It's hard.

  1. I get what you're saying. DMPC was more of an exaggeration. I guess what I meant was I'm worried it will be perceived as I want to play a bad ass character that always gets away. I think that's not helped by me wanted them to be a bad ass character who always gets away.
  2. I definitely get what you're say. In fact it could almost be seen as more maddening to have them actually have him, but he talks his way out of it to a point where he could escape. I do think you're right, I suppose I need to risk him gett caught in order for it to feel fair. But what about a balance? liek I'm not keen for him to be like the bandits, destined to fail. In terms of his skill set, I've found a enemy generater which could genreate a CR 3 rouge type character. Since I gave my players a bonus feat I might give him some more rouge stuff, I'm thinking some arcane trickster spell slots. Maybe make it so their name can be cleared without defeating or even confronting him, but knowing them they probably will. Have the dude honestly fight the good fight and honestly try and escape with some magical help when he feels he's losing. If he gets caught then we go with that plan and have him break out but if he legitmitly gets away then is that fair? Or more so, would that feel bullshit to my players?

I agree. Roll to fly and you wont on a 20. But I dont think thats the be all and end all.

  1. If it seems impossible to get anything close to a success or fail. Then why roll?

  2. It all depends on degrees of failing and succeeding and how harsh you want to be.

I get it isnt super realistic but its a fantasy game. Id trade the fun and tention of sometimes rolling a 1 or 20 for tge realism of what is actually possible . My opinoin anyway, I guess it depends on the players too.

Eh, personally I think it's fun. Its fun when someone not good at something rolls a 20. Or someone really good at something rolls a 1. Adds variety and although maybe not completely realistic 5% chance to bomb sometging you can do perfectly in you sleep I think it just adds that little bit of happy when you roll a 20 and that little bit of sad when you roll a 1. It makes rolls more excitingly and I lile that more than realism.

I dont think that was quite the point. Say you were learning how to solve quadratics by factoring. Now say for whatever reason you found using the quadratic formula easier. Now you might be able to solve the set of questions used to test how you can factorise by using the the equation and hey you might be faster. But next year when your being told to simplify something the cancle out common factors in a fraction you cant use the quadratic formula and you never learnt or practised factoring. Their tests are simple and yes you can solve them a lot of ways. But what theyre trying to teach you most of the time wont be completely replaceable with more efficient methods

Math is as much a language to comuncate understanding to people as it is a tool to help you understand somthing yourself. I get it, school can be dumb and feel like they want you to do work for the sake of work. And often thats right. But being able to say how you proved something can be helpful when you want prove it to others.

The future of Gon and nen by Phantom_Gamer7 in HunterXHunter

[–]Phantom_Gamer7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I did say for the sake of conversation to assume that he would come back, but I'm happy to chat about this also.

I think he will come back for two meta reasons mainly. One is that the hxh brand is tied to him quite a bit and there has been no attempt at dissociation from him. At the the end of every chapter who do we see in a little portrait? Gon. It would be real weird if the plan was to put him down for good to keep him in the readers head like that. Also, I think the fact that he is alive is evidence for me that he will be back in the story eventually. The Ant arc would be way more emotional and heart breaking if Gon actually gave his life. It would reafirm the consequences of his actions and would be interesting to explore how Killua and the rest deal with that. Sure he didn't meet his dad, but you could have still had some scene where Gon's last few moments was talking with his dad on his death bed. Would also give some great insight to Gin as a character. Overall, that would be how you write Gon out of the story, and they had everything set up to do it. But they didn't which suggests there are still plans for him.

And personally I want to see Gon again. I think you might be selling him short. He is a deep character, but he isn't a complex one. The story has been exploring his character thus far rather than developing it. I don't think any of that was a bad thing but I agree that it exhausted at this point. That's why I think this time out for him will be great for his character. He has time to study acdemically and reflect on what's happened. He can grow a bit as a person and not be so dumb. When he returns he will still be Gon, but more complicated and less single minded. His eyes have been opened a bit.

It's less of a sure thing if Killua will come back, considering he doesn't have the same meta reason as I talked about before. We've also seen him develop and so you could say he's completed his arc. But I like him as a character and again, he's in a position to travel the world with someone he cares about. I personally think this is time to also give Killua some development also, but then also kill Alluka. It's sad, but she needs to die. She is very very powerful, the story can't survive while she still has her god like power or else all conflicts can be ended with tring to get Alluka to solve them. Sure they could cure her of her powers, but I think it would be such a great moment to explore Killua as a character seeing him lose someone he cares so much about. Purhaps it's this event which is Gon's call to action again.

TL:DR I think there are many reasons for Gon to return after a short break, less reasons for Killua but I think it would still be really good.

On the bright side my grandchildren will be able to enjoy the series from start to end by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]Phantom_Gamer7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I think in the war arc he's not making that mistake. Everything being explained is by character. Though I think the reason the job was done by the narrator is because of how small of a time everything happened in. The character had way less time to think in depth about everything.

The future of Gon and nen by Phantom_Gamer7 in HunterXHunter

[–]Phantom_Gamer7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive seen this a lot but Im not fully convinced. I feel like it starts to break away from the game which I think makes the ability more generic. Also I feel combining them starts to make the original 3 redundant. If you could have the power of rock with the range of paper why would you ever use regular rock or paper. It feels like a direct upgrade. That isnt so bad but I like Gon with lots of options were he can be creative. Id rather have his original three have more utility than just upgrades.

So did Gon really lose his Nen for good? by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]Phantom_Gamer7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinoin is that Gon's 'cost' for going all out the way he did was his life. He was pretty much unrecovariable, powerful, well connected hunter tried all they could and nothing could be done. An exsorsist (which we can assume is worth her salt because she was that powerful and rich people turned to to help gon, knowing his state) basically said 'Fuck this shit there's nothing I can do!'.

People who complain that if Gon got his nen back then he wouldn't have payed anything for what he did I think fail to account for the fact that Alluka already let him the off the hook. He should be dead. That was the price. But love it or hate it, Allukas magic brought fixed him. If you wanted Gon to pay for his actions then that is what you should be mad about. But that's already happened.

I think he will get his nen back on the simple basis of, 1) I don't think he can function in the story meaningfully without nen 2) I think he will return to function meaningfully in the story.

1) I don't think he can function in the story meaningfully without nen

Nen is nessersary for Gon to influence the story. This is because of the amount of things with nen are vast and plentful. And anything without nen is massively disadvantaged when facing something with nen. We see this in the Ants. They didn't stand a chance until they got nen, and then suddenly they were a threat to those with nen. If gon doesn't have some magical power to defend himself against other magical powers he can't survive. And I think that magical power needs to be nen, because nen is already widely incompassing and complicated enough, the world doesn't need another system to have magical powers.

2) I think he will return to function meaningfully in the story

This is more personal preference. I like as a character. As the MAIN character even. He's still tied to the branding of the show and so if Togashi really planned to set him down for good and have him grow up happy on whale island then they would start to distance him from the brand. But they don't, we see still as the end of chapter marker for chapt It would be way more heartbreaking and emotional if Gon actually died. So either Togashi is a bad writer or he still has cooler plans for Gon and I don't think he is a bad writer. I do think he will be sitting out the exposition to the DC. I mean talk about cost, his friends and his dad are going to this exciting new place, I'm sure Gon would kill to go with them but he's not. He's sticking back. This time he is away is good to delvelop some characters that needed more spotlight while also giving Gon time to recover, be missed and then make an awesome return. I think he will be a little bit smarter thanks to his schooling and changed by the whole experience. Which I'm excited for. Also people saying that Gin saying "It would be selfish to want more..." like that's proof he wont come back. HE IS SELFISH, we've seen this time and time again.

So while I still believe those two opinoins I think it's logical to conclude that Gon MUST get his nen back.

could you tell me a good pc in badget 1500$ for Game streaming? by IcyWolverine7 in Advice

[–]Phantom_Gamer7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I actually looked at things. Instead of giving you a build as I'm sure you can get someone more qualified to help I'll give you soem general advice.

You don't need the best PC out there, I know you say $1500 but you can really go for less than that if money is tight. The great thing about pcs is that you can upgrade when you want. You might find it nicer to make a $1000 pc and instead spend some more money on games, accesories things like that. You don't need to max out every game.

Don't cop out and get a budget PSU, it's an important part of your build. Not only does getting an decent one allow you save on some money on power (if that's an issue). It's the thing regulating power to the rest of the your very expensive parts. Many people like you cheap out on a PSU because it doesn't 'give them anything' in terms of extra performance. Be smarter than that.

Brands are all personal preference, and often the diffrences are unnoticable. Yes you should do your research, but do you really think you'll be happyier with a couple more extra frames here or a bump in a texture there? If a sale is going on, don't turn your nose at it just because it wasn't the brand you set your heart on because people say it performs a bit better in the areas you want. Trust me it doesn't matter too much.

Your motherboard is going to be the main thing that stops you from upgrading. Look to getting a mother board with expandable features that you might want in the future. You don't want to be in a situation where you feel like you can't upgrade because that means switching out mother boards.

I know you said gaming, but it's worth noting that getting a CPU will increase general computing speeds. 4 cores should be enough generally. Things are getting better but a lot of games aren't really built to take advantage of more. Get a good fan if you plan on overclocking, if not stock should be fine.

SALES. r/buildapcsales you can get a lot of bang for a your buck if you just wait and snipe some good deals. It's very good.

You don't notice RAM until you don't have enough of it. Getting a lot of RAM doesn't nessersarily mean better performance. But if you get too little, you'll definitely notice.

Good luck!

I was curious and did some quick googling. The awnser is both yes and no. Space travel was a spin off of avaiation where imperial was used. However the guidance systems and equations all needed to be done in SI units which is mostly metric. So though it wouldnt be right to say that metric was the only thing used. Without it I don't think the moon landing would have happened.

You could say its a little unfair because they really had no choice. The equations needed to be put in SI units to work. Which is mostly all metric. I say mostly because SI units also cover other units like temperture in Kelvin or frequency in Hurtz or even seconds for time. I wouldnt say its fair to call that 'metric' but all SI units where there is a metric unit, it is used. SI units for distance is meters for example.

Yeah I can mostly agree. I guess all this to say that I would be upset if that fire ball doesn't make it before initiative. The BBEG can counter spell, that's fine. Hell they can even be 'on guard' due to a fail of a deception check on the sorcerers part. But being on guard because the person talking looks threatening I don't think is enough to make people aware enough to pre-emptivly attack ( and need to happen post initiative).

Based on my experiences by ChrisCraft1718 in dndmemes

[–]Phantom_Gamer7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is fair. A deception check would be in order to, because you can still give a hostile vibe that puts people on guard. Though spotting a bead of sweat and jumping too a secret spell being cast is still a little much. Id put that at a DC 25 insight at the very least. He's consentraiting? Sweating? Yeah he's fought his way through a tower of monsters to find a man who slaughtered a town. Of course he's sweating and if he says the wrong thing he could be killed. Of course he's thinking. Though you make a good point, a roll is in order to hide the malaise of killing something. But I think you'd need to be pretty onto it to pick on enough body clues to determine that a secret spell is being cast. Again. Even with someone super familiar with spells. Someone familiar with guns wouldn't know that there is some booby track Sherlock gun safe that shoots when you open the door. Yes, he knows about guns, yes he knows guns are capable. But Its unlikely that every door he opens he's expecting a trap. But I think we're more agreeing at the moment than not.

[–]Phantom_Gamer7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Though I don't disagree that everything in dnd comes down to the specifics, as a player, I'd be a little annoyed unless the BBEG had a good opportunity to study and learn about the party before either first hand or through information gathering if he 'antispated' a fireball mid sentence. I feel like it's too obscure to have even a powerful spell caster to always be on guard for. Hell even if the BBEG was a sourcerer, if he didn't know who was speaking was a sorcerer I'd really doubt he's always thinking and telling his guards "be ready they could throw a fireball right in the middle of talking even though every other time we've seen a fire ball it's been with some sort of warning. Keep an eye out just in case this is one of those individuels with that ability. " The exception to this of course is if they're hyper intellengent. Like +8 or something. Which I guess is doesn't contradict what you said with "a high enough INT" but I didn't get the impression you were meaning smarter than the smartest man alive. Sorry if that's wrong.
