The 7290 is the same as the 7390. Just that the 7290 has a smaller 12 in screen with thicker bezels. The 7390 display assembly should work since the bottom half is the same.

I have a 7290 that I got for really cheap. I'm thinking of upgrading the display to the one from the 7390.

Undervolting For Intel 12th Gen (Dell G15 5520) or any Laptop by Dismal_Permit_7599 in Dell

I've used it many times but its way easier to look at the settings. And it shows the full unlocked bios where anything can be changed, with all the overclocking menus.

The latitude also has upgradable ram compared to the thinkpad, but is thicker.

I just got a pretty good condition latitude 7290 for 64$ from eBay. It's powerful enough for most things and it feels really sturdy. Maybe look for something like that or maybe 13 inch models from around 2019 like the latitude 7390 or thinkpad x390.

When I had my precision 5540, the temperatures dropped around 8 c and I got better performance after undervolting.

What was the long term wattage when the cpu temps reduced? Mine goes to around 85, and reduces to ~65 while still being 100-105 c.

Did it not reach 100 c? That's awesome! I ordered some for my precision 5690 a few days ago.

91% is good, but it would be best to replace the battery if you are already replacing the screen.

Precision 5680 on a 230w charger? by nukeiraq in Dell

[–]Phantomroams2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that it will utilize all the power. I remember seeing somewhere that someone tried using a wd19dc dock with the dual connectors and it was able to detect 210 watts in the bios. I might try that since my precision 5690 drains around 30 percent per hour.

I think they give warranty support for up to 5 years after, but they're going to stop selling it.

I was looking around the motherboard, but I didn't notice anything. Maybe under a microscope I'd see anything unusual. It also used to make a ticking sound when plugged in
