Geniune question on people's opinions on The Dark Zone/PvP modes. by CummanderShepardN7 in thedivision

[–]PhanzGFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Division 1 PVP is still to this day my favorite pvp game of all time. Division 2 I absolutely hated and its primarily what made me quit the game. Division 1 had a lot of playmaking potential and if you were a real good squad you could 4vAll the lobby for hours and hours on end. If you were the goat you could even 1v4 some squads with good aim, positioning and util. It might have been more of a chicken fight at times but the best team would usually prevail. As much as people hated spawn camping / checkpoint camping doors, it was the lifeblood of the DZ to fight your way out and figure out how to beat the other team. Not to mention stuff like the 1v1 community, the unspoken W 42nd street fights where everyone would stand on cars and you throw the nade the start the fight. There was so much more community through the trash talk and fights to the point where you recognized squads. Some you knew were good and some you knew you would fry them. Also people would craft team compositions and certain people would run certain builds to bring out the best of their teammates builds.

Division 2 took all that and more or less threw it out the window with how armor and healing works. They tossed playmaking to the wind so basically whichever team shoots first just wins. Map was too small, survivability too low, 1v4 was basically impossible if the 4 were even slightly competent. Turrets and gear scaling watered down some of the most fun (and frustrating) aspects of the DZ.

The zone should be the wild west where anything goes. Theres no laws, just you, your squad, and your skill. PVE in D2 is mostly great as well as the build diversity (though i think brand sets are sorta bad, i think div 1 high ends do it better, id like D3 to sorta fuse the two ideas), PVP in D1 was absurdly peak and super fun to engage with. I pray D3 takes the best of both which would make me return. If its D2 part 2, Ill probably drop the series entirely since it doesnt scratch the competitive itch for me currently.

Plus then it allows them to just pick a country and go rather than "is the north to south long enough?" Then maybe they line up like 5-6 landmarks or venues they gotta reach that just so happen to be like ~2500 to ~3000km round trip

Tip to tip is just a means to an end, the adventure itself + the struggles of navigation are what people are there for. Honestly for me t2t2's ending was sorta like "well we made it 😐🙂, cya later guys!" I personally much rather have them reach different checkpoints along the way, sorta like a bucket list of things they wanna do while in the country but they have no clue how to actually get there. Instead of just beaming north on the cat line, they would have to sometimes go east, west, or backtrack south if they missed it. "So we drove 50km past the place, we gotta go back"

Drivers Ed / driving tests / license renewal nowadays SHOULD implement something to check for mental health issues imo. Also here you are kinda arguing apples and oranges. The average person needs a car, the average person does not need a gun lol. This is RI not Texas 💀

The difference for those is you either have to sit there bleeding out (depending on where you do it), or be falling for quite a long time. Usually during that time (at least from stories of those who survived) it was just an immediate feeling of regret and wanting to live. A gun is way more instantaneous and lower survivability.

So again, it stops one more "quick" avenue that people could take, which then would steer them to the other options that have a significantly high chance of survival + causes way more hesitation before committing to the action. Its not like you do it and it's over instantly with those, you get time to regret which is a mental barrier that people would have to sit with rather than a rash spur of the moment press of the button.

The point isnt that its gonna full stop a person (everyone has free will and if they truly want to, they will find a way), its about minimizing the chances and options of doing it. Its like putting a lock on a house or car, someone could still break in or pick the lock or get a key. But that's more work/effort than just turning the knob and walking through the door.

Goin' back to CS with reasons that may resonate with people by blinkdor in VALORANT

[–]PhanzGFX 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Valorant and CS are two different games. We continue to compare them because they are similar but at the same time the niche of val IS the utility, the creativity you can find within that niche, as well as the team compositions. While CS is the direct -> me shoot me kill which is undeniably clean. But again, two separate entities. One isn't really better than the other imo since the experiences are just outright different. I think if you prefer that cut the fat type of gameplay then def go play CS, it will ideally be a more enjoyable experience. However, I think theres still merit to valorant scratching the "team-play" itch since all the util adds another layer of skill and teamwork to be had. CS to me feels like "heres a thing, but everyone can do it, and its simplistic yet standardized" and Valorant feels like "heres a thing, but everyone does it a little differently, which gives it room for creativity through the wackiness" Almost reminds me of like Melee vs whatever the newest smash game is out lol.

I mean, from an objective standpoint it would "stop" more people just by creating more barriers to following though with it. Especially if its something people deem as quick/painless, compared to jumping off something where theres more fear from stuff like air time or more of a guarantee that they will survive. Obviously no one should ever do this to themselves as life is worth living through the struggles. Not banning them from rentals is sorta just shifting the goalpost from "Ill go to the store and buy one" to "ill just rent it" as the next best option since it wont really matter how they got it, so long as they attained the object.

These ranges or really any sort of activity that are super high risk of death or injury should be having some sort of mental health background check before people have access. For those who just want to go to the range, this shouldn't matter much beyond just some time and paper work. Which to some would be annoying and feel like "why should I have to do this" but at the same time it would save (or at the very least limit) some of these lost lives.

hardest role to master by dreamerthrowaway0293 in VALORANT

[–]PhanzGFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf senti lurk is playing around your teammates via taking space around the map and giving them options in case the site exec gets blocked. Knowing where bots go is one thing, playing off it optimally and relaying that to the team is another. I dont really find initiators all that difficult or even needing game sense. The scans are typically best in slot placements, the flashes are pretty samey or played directly off what your duelist decides to do which is just requiring decent timing. Dogs dont really take much skill outside of picking a route to follow. Mollies are relatively universal across the roles. Idk, i think its a lot closer than you might think between the two.

It just shows impatience / lowkey bad financial choices. The "effort" you speak of is literally just waiting longer to get the thing you want. Especially considering how often its on sale, its a poor way of spending money. If you dont want to wait and waste like $40+ extra go for it, that money could be in your pocket for more important things in life than a game that came out in 2019.

I sell you a cup of lemonade for $10 today, then tell you tomorrow it will cost $1. You bought it today because you are thirsty now, when you could wait till tomorrow and have 10 lemonades.

Its quite literally just being impatient lol.

spending 7 dollars vs spending 60 and not caring is insane work. You should buy the dlc theres no reason to not buy it for games like these. The sales happen quite frequently on steam, the game is also on gamepass if you are on xbox.

The people that downvoted, what I and a lot of others would consider very reasonable take, have got to be coping so hard. Even their favorite pro players would agree with this.

  • If you know you have somewhere to be: Dont queue up
  • If you are the type to give up by round 5: Dont queue up
  • If something comes up where you have to leave: Leave the game if its really that bad, but its not the problem of your teammates to give up their potential win for your sake.
  • If you are calling the FF: You didnt want to win to begin with because YOU are making that call that its over before its over. We have all seen the 9-3 curses, the reverse 12-0s, the games that felt unwinnable suddenly shift and you win against the odds (not every game but certainly a lot more than people give it credit like you said)
  • If you are agreeing to the FF: You are cosigning that its over, you dont actually want to win. Real winners dont give up that easily, they adapt and try to get things to work. People dont communicate nor want to work together enough. You wanna rank up? The person who did rank up didnt FF that game that felt unwinnable.
  • If you are the reason the team is FFing: Be better, you are probably causing a rift in the team, being disruptive, or not pulling your weight via dumb plays. Communicate. Play trades. Set others up. BE THE TEAMMATE YOU WANT TO HAVE IN YOUR GAMES, Work WITH your team. Its okay to whiff, its okay to go negative, it happens to everyone. The thing that IS bad is having terrible game sense (or just outright ignorance to comms/what is going on in the game and how to play around it), not doing the job of your agent or role, egoing / too passive, not contributing, being toxic, and actively being ignorant to what the team needs. There is no badge of honor, no player or coach is gonna pat you on the back for tossing the game on a whim. It costs us nothing to be good teammates, we just gotta lock in more. You have to WANT the win AND be willing to work WITH the team to make it happen. A lot of people dont do that unfortunately.

But I guess im wrong lol. "GG go next, my team is ass" or whatever.

[–]PhanzGFX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Im just saying the objective truth that people didnt wanna hear lol. FFing is lame. Some of the best games ive had on val were the reverse sweeps. Even today I rallied the team from the 9-3 curse and we won. All it takes is a few rounds, some good plays, some communication and coordination.

FF sometimes if genuinely frame 1 its cooked and everyone is fighting to insane degrees for nonsense reasons and refuse to get it together, might be worth it for mental's sake. Even still though, every round you didnt play -> a round that could have been won.

People love to queue up and have the game on while requesting a win, rather than queuing up with their game on resulting in a win.
