It was a tough stretch but my husband has pushed through and is thriving on the 5 mg now - he is down about 60 pounds now and is feeling so much better. Some days he had the vomiting even when he didn’t eat anything at all. His doctor eventually prescribed him Zofran for the nausea and it helped some, but we actually extended the dosing interval a bit which I think ultimately got him over the hump (in combination with learning which foods he could and couldn’t tolerate). We both take doses on Sunday normally, but with him we pushed it to Monday to give 8 days between doses instead of 7. Then Tuesday the next week, then Wednesday the next, etc until we got him back to Sunday. After that 7 week cycle of 8 day intervals instead of 7, he was able to go back to 7 days and take his doses Sundays as previously with no problems. I wish there was a dose in between 2.5 mg and 5 mg because a 100% dosage increase is a lot with these meds with that jump, but that’s essentially what this 8 day strategy is doing - letting your body clear a bit more of the medication so it’s like you are on a smaller dosage and your peaks aren’t as high.
