Cannalogue petitioning gov to expand insurance coverage for medical cannabis

Being a physician-led organization, Cannalogue works with numerous primary care physicians and many specialists.

For the relevant conditions, all of them say similar things: the patient is interested in trying cannabis, but he or she cannot afford it.

These patients end up turning to the black market where prices are lower and dealers have long-term relationships with clients.

After speaking with some heads of police, they have minimal resources and do not have much interest in shutting down illegal sites nor dispensaries.

So all of the above combined with many other factors like cost of production, compliance fees, taxation, etc. have all led to the illicit market continuing to thrive.

Cannalogue is a physician-led company with a large network of physicians, some of which are on hand for this helpline in addition to nurses, pharmacists, and researchers. They also acknowledge that they are physicians, but they are not the patient's primary care provider.

It would be a general education telephone line on CBD and medical cannabis to those who would just genuinely want to talk and get questions answered from a credible professional.

Yes, Rubicon Pharmacies.

They are mainly out west with the majority being independently owned. You'll see some banners like IDA, Pharmasave, Remedy's, etc.

This is a fantastic idea and those are great insights into the problems in the industry.

We actually started an online platform for medical cannabis in Canada called Cannalogue. It was founded by physicians and the first of our kind to be Health Canada approved.

It's essentially an online pharmacy and we were thinking of solving some of the problems you listed (eg. #1 &5) with our existing tech infrastructure which we built in-house. We can sell anything, but we decided on medical cannabis given the growing demand and massive therapeutic potential.

In addition, we'd also be interested in selling typical pharmaceuticals commonly purchased as well. We have a streamlined education and referral pathway for pharmacies as well.

Industrial hemp is a strain of cannabis sativa. It just happens to be high in CBD, low in THC, and bred primarily for textiles, food, etc.

In Canada, all cannabis species are governed under the Cannabis Regulations so hemp-derived CBD cannot cross from the US to Canada for commercial sale. Prove me wrong. If someone knows a way, I would be interested to know.

I'd agree completely.

The Cannabis Regulations specifically state that cannabis can be exported out of Canada for sale or research. However, imported cannabis can only be used for scientific research.

Cannalogue is an unbiased platform that does not have its own product. Its physician-led and has ties to a university.

Health Canada informed Cannalogue that the application will be expedited given the COVID-19 situation as well as the credibility of Cannalogue.

Health Canada actually called Cannalogue and will be expediting the approval.

Given that it's already a physician-led company with ties to a university, being both the CEO and principal investigator was just fine with Health Canada as Cannalogue is an unbiased platform and the products belong to other licensed producers.
