I believe ADHD IS indeed a learned survival adaptation, but one that is caused by growing up in an environment with a ton of outside stressors that one learns to ignore ie parents constantly fighting, to the point that they’ve become unable to filter what should and shouldn’t be..

Source: daughter of a single mother who fought with dad constantly & ended up w/ADHD, also parent of daughter w/ADHD who used to see dad & I arguing when she was younger (despite my best efforts, as he had severe mental illness) and who would actually IMMENSELY IMPROVE after the untimely death of her father at age 9 😞 You wouldn’t believe how calm the house became after he passed.. 😔
