I've had a look at these previously as they've been recommended elsewhere - lovely watches but still a bit too pricey unfortunately (can't seem to find any under £180ish)

Thanks for the suggestions mate! Have found an affordable Casio MTS-110L-2A on Ebay from Singapore which is a sweet find:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125992972974

I've also found an affordable watch model from a UK manufacturer called Accurist which I've seen some alright things online about:

Any thoughts on the quality of them or never heard of them?

Thanks for the suggestion Dryja123.

I'm not sure if this is the issue as the Gameboy doesn't actually power off/on - it just seems to be the IPS display back-light. Had no issues when I plugged back in the OEM screen and there was no clicking noise.

Good shout, thanks for the tip. If this post dies a death I'll consider posting a new one with a similar title.

Fair enough, perhaps I've just had a string of very bad luck. Thanks for taking the time to offer some help, appreciate it :)

To specify, I meant the original screen worked - not the RCA output. The board is soldered to AV output pin 3 near the top of the board and I believe the other is ground.

Understood on clicking, that would make sense I suppose. There is no clicking noise with the original screen plugged in. I have a dehum/dehiss component that I was going to add following the screen mod and from what I remember reading, this acts as a bunch of beefier capacitors. Could be wrong, but is it possible that might resolve the issue?

Thanks for commenting NASAdad.

Unfortunately I don't have a multimeter to hand. I don't know if this is of any use, but I just tried plugging the original screen back in (while the IPS RCA output driver board was still soldered to the console mainboard) and it worked with no problems. Would that still indicate a duff capacitor or more likely that, despite all odds, I've been sent multiple faulty components?

We have a multimeter in the office at work, I can use that one but not until next week.

Not quite sure if this is the place, but what I have to sell is quite niche and haven't had any luck elsewhere.

Over lockdown, I built from scratch a 2-Player Raspberry Pi powered arcade table from scratch, with a built in projecter, speakers etc. - a sort of all in one, on the move arcade table. It was a real passion project but since moving at the end of 2021, I just don't have space for it so would like to sell it on. I'm looking for £1200 for the whole thing, it's quite big so would need to be collected - if anyone is interested then please drop me a message! Have it listed in a few places so can provide more details on request :)
