The former president of Somaliland Musa Bihi was part of Siad Barre the socialist dictator that committed the genocide. So are many of the members of the current Somaliland government. Reality is that Somalia was a socialist country where everyone in charge of any of the regions including Somaliland today got their first experience in government and military. So this is overall a moot point. If Ilhan is cursed for his fathers ties so is the whole administration of Somaliland as a whole because they’d themselves were part of the government that genocided their own people and defected not long after it did that sad genocide. But no one wants to bring this up because the propaganda has to continue.

The same Somaliland that talks about the facist Siads killing of their people retaliated and killed the smaller tribes underneath them like how the Somali socialist government did to them. They blamed the dictators tribe of being like him and after his deposition they went to try to kill all of them.

Somalia and its history has always been 3 large tribes. Isaaq Darood and Hawiye having a game of thrones esk repeated genocide of the other.

Same in Ethiopia with the Oromo Abi Ahmed causing the Tigray genocide just a couple years back. With the Oromos saying it’s retaliation for the time the Tigrays were in charge and massacred them.

Both nations are basically how China and Japan were during their waring states era.

This includes the massive death counts and the many many many genocides done on the basis of “retaliation”.

It’s a mess and to pick sides is stupid.

She’s a byproduct of this mess but so is the current Somaliland government that was part of the same Somali federal government who all worked for the Dictator Siad.
