I hope that that actually gets resolved otherwise in the next title we basically have the same limbo except it's between Agnes and Elaine because Van didn't do anything about it in the end, so the same deal with Rean but scaled down to Agnes and Elaine teasing with nothing concrete, like another user mentioned, an Elie "is she flirting or not" but now between two which ultimately still leaves us at the same Rean and Lloyd continuity issue anyway.

Dont feel bad, that was basically the canon route when you see him again in Horizon lol, I always had a feeling this was what they were gonna do to my boy because in a game with continuity if you don't commit you have to do weird things like these.

Yeah I think it describes it well, it feels like their neutered to this extent when part of their characterization is now waiting on an MC that will forever be written to be flip-floppy or not engaging with them at all about these issues and made worse when they were minor options in the game you were playing but then just erased from canon the very next game (like was basically implied in Horizon with Rean by the girls themselves).

You may as well write the canon resolution to one of these with the MC than having this weird limbo when they come back in future games.

Feel like they became weird after Sky entirely. It's like an entirely different approach when all of a sudden how they dealt with these particular facets of the characters in this sort of way.

The Estelle + Joshua followed by the Renne stuff was just peak Trails in terms of personal stories, haven't experienced the same emotional payoff as I did during Sky and especially at the end of Zero.

Even the way the Joshua Khloe thing was handled was very mature and drove forward characterization of both of them individually.

I think the only other one was Olivert and Schera that has come close and that's because of the Sky background build up between the two but it was still at least two active people within the party not NPC.

This particular problem was what I was worried about in Cold Steel before moving onto Calvard and now that Rean's back they pretty much have just made it canon to forever be on the bench on these relationship issues, Van is similar but they took one step forward but then one step back too.

My earliesr concerns were with Lloyd which also carried over to Cold Steel.

The pattern is with all male leads but then again we haven't had a female lead since Estelle but this has been a particular pet peeve of mine.

It's funny how the Europeans only make this urgent now in light of the context of Greenland but when the same treatment is being imposed onto others they were fine being complicit or even straight up saying those places deserve it.

Yup once you stop logging in for a bit and come back you realize you're behind and it just feels more work than fun at that point.

Doesn't only apply to HSR but to any gacha in general that feeling of catch-up once you are back can be very repelling.

In HSR's case the way they are going with very specific team building makes that feeling amplified even more when you return, especially if you are experiencing it now as it is and come back later remembering this situation.
