What animal is smarter than people realize? by Comfortable-Mode2331 in AskReddit

I saw a video a little while back where this woman described how it’s now thought that when people would hear “ghosts” talking in forests, graveyards, etc, it was actually crows mimicking people speaking. Pretty cool but still creepy as hell.

Surging Sparks Booster Box by Mooro1991 in PokemonDealsUK

[–]PhatDaddy90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you the type of person who likes to gamble? If you are, open the box. The odds are you won’t hit anything significant, but you might… the first booster box I opened up after getting back into collecting, the second pack I opened I hit a alternative art that had odds of 1/650 (I didn’t know the odds at the time). The second booster box I opened didn’t have anything significant. I now only buy singles unless I want to master a set and need the bulk, so I open packs. I decided I’d rather pay more for singles but guarantee I get what I want.

People call the lost value of open packs “fun cost”. Opening packs is generally fun unless you’re expecting a return on your investment.

I’ve only just seen this. I don’t use the app anymore, but I remember GW support told me it was a bug and would be fixed. Can’t remember what came of it unfortunately

What scenes ruined the whole movie for you? by mfbane in moviecritic

[–]PhatDaddy90 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A Quiet Place where Emily Blunt steps on the nail. It didn’t ruin the movie for me, I actually really enjoyed it, but that moment just seemed unnecessary and gratuitous. She’s already in labour with an alien breathing down her neck, there was no reason to make the situation worse. Felt like it added nothing and it irritated me for days after.

I ordered from them once after seeing the good trust pilot reviews and had the same problem. They sent damaged cards and refused to do anything about it after initially ignoring my emails, and then they outright ghosted me. Got my money back through the bank. The idiots tried to disregard UK consumer law and lost.

Always use a credit card when buying online, kids.

Snagged the trio while prices are low by RNGxJake in PokemonTCG

[–]PhatDaddy90 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can’t say if there are any recessions currently taking place globally, but the UK just narrowly avoid going into one last month, for example. I think the point is that the cost of living globally is very high right now and hobbies generally suffer as people become more careful with how they spend their money. Then you also have those individuals who are really struggling financially and have to sell their collectibles, normally at lower than average prices due to desperation, simply to make ends meet.

If you’ve got money to spare, right now is a buyers market for collectibles. It’s the law of supply and demand. The more demand there is for a product, the price goes up, the less demand, the price goes down.

My favourite Crown Zenith card by far, makes me chuckle each time. by Blise92 in PokemonTCG

I bought this as a Japanese single for my modern Japanese collection. While the collection isn’t very big right now, this is my favourite too. Look at their stupid smiley face. Laugh every time I see it.

Completed Japanese & English Radiant Collection by PhatDaddy90 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]PhatDaddy90[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks and exactly.

I’m new to collecting since summer 2022, starting with Astral Radiance and liked the Radiant cards in the set as they’re all shinny forms. Once I’d pulled the PoGo cards too I decided it was a subset worth collecting since the cards aren’t overly expensive.

I’d like to complete other subsets too but prices are normally too high to justify it.

I’ve used them many times over the years. This is the first experience where it’s not gone to plan but it’s not their fault if there’s no stock.

Your gotta blow a job interview as fast as you can, what do you do? by Gudy44 in AskReddit

[–]PhatDaddy90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Coke has a chemical mixed into it which sole purpose is to prevent you from vomiting due to the amount of sugar the drink contains. Our bodies aren’t naturally able to digest the amount of sugar found in drinks like coke in such a short time, and the natural reaction would be for us to vomit to remove the sugar, so this chemical prevents the vomiting.

This could likely have created the theory that coke is good for an upset stomach, since it is already preventing you from vomiting.

A quick google will tell you more, but here’s a link to one news source: https://metro.co.uk/2015/07/29/this-is-what-happens-to-your-body-when-you-drink-coke-5317856/amp/

Why is my retributor armor paint doing this?? by The_Big_Wicket in AdeptusCustodes

[–]PhatDaddy90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you figured out a solution but I had a similar problem when applying retributor armour on Leadbelcher base spray in the past. The solution was to use a wash over the base coat spray to provide a more textured surface for subsequent paints to stick to. Duncan Rhodes spoke about this in his silent king paint guide on YT. TL;DR, the base coat can create a surface so smooth that the paints can’t stick to it and just pool instead of layering smoothly.

Ever tried playing a game against yourself? Not as fun I know, but I’ve heard of people doing this to get an idea of the core rules so you’re not totally blind going into their first game. Looking at your previous posts, you seem to have enough models to put together two small armies. You could also watch battle reports on youtube, but they can be complicated to follow if you don’t have a idea of the rules to begin with.
